The Man in the Well Side Story Full Walkthrough and Details | Where Winds Meet

Inside a well lives a man, none have seen him, only heard him. Invesitage the well to find out why he lives in isolation.

[1] Wait until Zi Hour to call into the well

・Once you've found the well, you have to wait for the Zi hour to formally start the quest. Zi hour is 23:00-1:00. Once it hits Zi hour, the prompt "Call into the Well" will appear. Select it to start the quest.

[2] Get a portion of Braised Pork Belly Slices

・Search for the quest marker. If you don't feel like walking all the way there, you can take the fast travel point instead. When you arrive at the marketplace, look for the NPC Yuan Xianxian. Select "Braised Pork Belly Slices" to get the quest item.

[3] Wait until Zi hour to throw the Braised Pork Belly Slices into the well.

・Return to the man in the well, fast travel is safe. If it isn't Zi hour (23:00-1:00), then change the time. Once it is Zi hour, select "Investigate" and then "Throw down the Braised Pork Slices." If it's still in your inventory, hit "submit."

[4] Take an old piece of clothing that you no longer wear

・Travel to Blissful Retreat and then travel to the quest marker, it will lead you to your tiny house. Find the box underneath the bench next to the pot filled with scrolls. The box will also shine occasionally, so it shouldn't be too hard to find. Interact with it and you will get the clothing.

[5] Wait until Zi hour to throw the clothes into the well.

・Return to the well again and change the time to Zi hour again if the hour has passed. Select "Investigate", then "Throw down the red old clothers," then hit "Submit."

[6] Check behind you

・Turn the camera around and the Street Urchin will spawn. It doesn't matter whether you will give him 100 coins or not, you will have to fight him.

[7] Teach the greedy Street Urchin a lesson

・ It will be another standard enemy fight, so go buck wild against him.[8] Return to the well to find Li Wa.

・Select "Call into the well." Li Wa will not be there to respond.

[9] Go to the well in two days to check.

・By two days, they mean in-game days. Change the time to turn it into two days, or go do other things in-game while you wait. Either way, return to the well during Zi hour.

[10] Wait until Zi hour and check the well

・When it is Zi hour, select "Call into the well" again. Li Wa will be there to reply this time.

[11] Check around for anything unusual.

・While Li Wa says to return during midnight the next day, there is something in the area you need to do. Turn the camera around again and you will see the Street Urchin again, approach him.

[12] Ask the Street Urchin what he's doing

・Talk to him again to continue. Don't worry, no need to fight.

[13] Wait until Zi hour of the second day.

・Change the time again, or just do something else to pass the time. Either way, the quest will continue during Zi hour.

[14] Go to Blissful Retreat to retrieve the wine

・Travel back to Blissful Retreat and back to the tiny house. The vintage wine is resting on the shelf against the wall to your left when you enter. It will also shine occasionally like the box with the old clothing so it won't be too hard to spot. Select "Vintage Wine" to retrieve it.

[15] Bring the wine to the meeting spot

・ Heads up, the next part of the quest will go past very quickly. It will start as soon as you exit the house.

[16] Ask the beggar boy what is he doing here

・You will see a young boy outside the house. Approach him and then some dialogue will play out.

[17] Stay near the beggar boy and wait for him to wake up

・Pretty self-explanatory, just stick around the house until the boy wakes up. It won't take long, approach him when he gets up.

[18] Ask the beggar boy how he's doing

・Talk to the boy again to start the next part of the quest.

[19] Go to the well at Blissful Retreat.

・The meeting spot is within the Blissful Retreat, not at the well from before. Follow the quest marker to the well, and you will spot a corpse, headless.

[20] Examine the corpse/the corpse's clothes/the corpse's hand

・ The headless corpse is resting (hopefully peacefully) against the well. You need to exmaine the body three times in a row.

[21] Investigate the surroundings

・Search the bamboo to the right of the rock behind the well. Interact with it, and after investigating it, the quest will end.
