The Arhat Among Us Walkthrough
[1] Talk to the Scholar at the Skybrim Market.
They tasked you to bring the materials to make a Patchwork Robe for the Skinny Arhat.
[2] Talk to the woman at the cloth stall.
She tells you that the temple is the first of the "three sacred sites linked to the Skinny Arhat protecting Lianzhou. The Bodchen monks who were tasked to take over the temple ended up being crippled.
[3] Go to the Buddhist temple.
If you haven't unlocked the Purity Pagoda boundary stone, you can use the Flowing Glow to travel there.
[4] Listen to the Bodchen monks.
You hear that every Bodchen monk ended with a crushed foot due to the vajra pestle's heavy head.
[5] Investigate the area.
| Item | Image | Observation |
|---|---|---|
| Buddhist Scripture Fragment | Some torn Buddhist scriptures, one volume identifiable as the Han Buddhist classic "Record of the Three Treasures." | |
| Vajra Pestle | A strangely shaped vajra pestle, looking quite new. | |
| Booklet | Most of these books are Bochen Buddhist texts, but strangely, each contains copied Han-character sutras. One includes a diagram of a vajra pestle's construction—apparently a forging manual—with blurred Han characters: "All phenomena are illusory." |
[6] Deduce your observations.
| Question | First Clue | Second Clue | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anomalous vajra pestle structure | A pile of vajra pestles | Bodchen monks' conversation | The malformed, top-heavy vajra pestles injured Bodchen monks... |
| Han monks secretly copying sutras | Buddhist Scripture Fragment | Booklets | Likely these Han sutras were copied secretly by Han monks behind Mutun's back... |
| The truth behind the Skinny Arhat's divine punishment... | The malformed, top-heavy vajra pestles injured Bodchen monks... | Likely these Han sutras were copied secretly by Han monks behind Mutun's back... | Bodchen craftsmen mistakenly used Han monks' copied sutras as casting instructions, resulting in these malformed vajra pestles. |
[6] Submit the Patchwork Robe to Master Wuzhen.
He tells you he cannot accept the Patchwork Robe.
[7] Go back to the woman who gave you the Patchwork Robe.
She tells you the second sacred site, the big bell behind the pagoda. When the Mutun tried to take it to melt it into copper for weapons, the bell became mute.
[8] Go back to the temple and check the bell.
[9] Talk to the Master Coppersmith who seems to know about the bell.
He tells you that the bell is filled with lead and tin. General Zhang along with Master Wuzhen asked the coppersmiths to do this. This is the reason why the bell became mute.
[10] Help them lift the heavy bell.
[11] Go back to Master Wuzhen and try to give the robe again.
You tell him that he can give it to General Zhang who deserves the robe. He agrees.
[12] Wait for the next day or advance the time.
[13] Talk to Master Wuzhen.
He tells you that General Zhang did not accept the robe. He also tells you about the third sacred site, Zhuo's Embroidery Shop.
[14] Go to Zhuo's Embroidery Shop in the Skybrim Market.
The woman from before, Zhuo Er, tells you that the important documents carried by the monks disguised as merchants were embroidered onto silk. The fabric was then cut into scraps and was hidden inside the pouches covered with Western spices.
[15] Go back to Master Wuzhen.
He gives you a letter from Zhang Yichao.
[16] One last time, give the Patchwork Robe to Master Wuzhen.
He still does not accept.
[17] Go back to the Scholar.
They leave you to decide what to do with the Patchwork Robe.
[18] Look for the Skinny Arhat and give him the robe.
