A letter is nailed on the door of Uncle Jiang's house, challenging him to a duel. Go there in his stead.

[1] Change into Uncle Jiang's clothes.
You can find Uncle Jiang's clothes inside his house by the window. Put them on.

[2] Wait until the Zi hour, then head to the General's Shrine.
You can adjust the time on the menu.
Upon arriving there at the right time, you will meet the Headsman. You hear him say:
Sun Zhan was under Du Zhongwei's command at age thirty-four.
Seven years ago, he hung up his armor and returned to farming in Qinghe.
Sixteen years ago, he forged military intel on Du Zhongwei's orders. The intel blocked reinforcements, and left Field Commander Wang Qing trapped at Zhongdu Bridge.
Remember him? You two shared wine once and crossed blades twice in the army.

[3] Mistaking you as Jiang Yan, you fight with the headsman.
He claims that Jiang Yan killed the general. He recognized that you are not Jiang Yan because of your skills and hesitation. He lets you go because of his promise to the general never to kill the innocent.

[4] Investigate the General's Shrine.
You discover the following:
・A General's Death Repaid with Heads - General Wang Qing has fallen; these severed heads serve as sacrificial offerings for his demise.
・Remember the General's Teachings - The killer in the General's Shrine has a deep fixation on General Wang Qings's teachings.
・Confession Letter - "The Battle of Zhongdu Bridge... (Some of the writing is charred)... General Wang Qing (blurry handwriting)... no reinforcements... (charred handwriting)... dead... Unable to sleep at night. I am guilty."
A Charred letter where some of the words cannot be identified. Based on the remaining parts, this appears to be a letter of confession.
・Statue's Face - The statue in the General's Shrine bears the face of the murdered.
・A Resident of Harvestfall Village - The face on the statue is familiar, seen before in Harvestfall Village.
・Headless General's Night Murders - Rumors say the headless general haunts the General's Shrine, killing people at night.

[5] Conclude your deductions.

You find the Headsman pointing his sword at someone.

[7] Listen to their conversation.
The man insist that the general died at the hour of Chen, at the third quarter. But the Headsman claims that the general died at the fifth quarter. How could the general die twice?

[8] Fight the Headsman.
After the fight, it seems that the man mistakes you as the "Little General" and told you that the General swore them to silence.

[9] Team up with the Headsman to uncover the truth.
You plan to disguise as Uncle Jiang again. While you're at it, give the man a jar of wine from Blissful Retreat. He tells you the story of the General. Among the orphans saved by the general, he adopted Jiang Yan. Jiang Yan is friends with Chen Zixi.

[10] Disguised as Uncle Jiang again, return to the Harvestfall Village.
Fooling the old man, you ask him to reveal his secret. Threatening him further, he finally tells you:
... Find the gentleman. Little General, find a wagon that's empty but moving... At the third watch, the gentleman arrived by carriage. He said he had a gift for the general. That was a box… Once the box reached the general's hands, it would be his death.
The Headsman interrupts. He said he was the one who delivered the box.

[11] Follow the footsteps using Wind Sense and find the veteran.
As the mad man, Liu Musan reveals that the box is a "theft from fate," he dies.
