A Dog's Ambition Quest Summary

Dogs, just like people, have their own dreams and tangled feelings—love, hatred, and everything in between.

A Dog's Ambition Walkthrough

[1] Begin the Quest

・To trigger the quest, travel to Masterwood Hamlet at You Hour (17:00-19:00). Travel east of the Masterwood Hamlet Boundary Stone until you get the notification of the quest. Find a house being barked at by dogs and ask Xiaojie to start the quest.

[2] Wait until Hai hour

・Now, set the time to Hai Hour (21:00-23:00).

[3] Ask the person in the room

・Go inside the house, you will find an NPC named Old Cai crouching on his knees. Talk to him.

[4] Check out Old Yang's place

・Follow the quest marker to the contruction site to find Old Yang. He should be resting against a pile of planks.

[5] Pray at the Dog Shrine

・Head to the dog shrine, just follow the quest marker. You will find a tiny shrine just behind the broken wall. You will have to make two offerings to the shrine, 1 Prime Meat Cut and 1 Sugar Figurine.* Place them both on the shrine and a white dog will appear behind you.

[6] Follow the dog

・Now follow the dog as instructed. It will lead you to a small pack of dogs and a boy looking over the nearby river. Talk to him.

[7] Lead the Spirit Beast Master to meet Old Yang

・Then, you will lead the Spirit Beast Master to Old Yang, or rather you will follow him, to meet Old Yang. Do not lose sight of him, travel with him all the way back to the Hamlet.

[8] Introduce the Spirit Beast Master to Old Yang

・The two of you will eventually return to the house, with ld Cai, Old Yang, and Buster inside. Once the Spirt Beast Master is inside the house, talk to Old Yang to continue. After Buster leaves, talk to them again to continue. In order for Buster to regain his confidence, you will to find three samples of dog fur.

[9] Find some dog fur in the village.

・Not just any dog fur will do, you will have to collect it from three specific dogs in the hamlet—Haihai, Jet, and Silkbr>・Haihai can be found down the road by a wagon holding some contruction materials. Simply talk to him to get his fur
・Jet can be found to the west of the house, it is another white dog standing on the road.
・From west of where you found Haihai, you will see a dog overlooking the Hamlet from a small cliff, that is Silk. He won't be easy, he won't let you get his fur up close. Use Celestial Seize on Silk to claim his fur.

[10] Give the dog fur to the Spirit Beast Master

・Now return to the house with the Spirit Beast Master, Old Cai, and Old Yang. Talk to the Spirit Beast Master to submit the dog fur. He will ask Buster to come back so that they give back his...jewels. After that dialogue, talk to the Spirit Beast Master again to continue.

[11] Follow the Spirit Beast Master to the front of the village

・With his pride back, Buster sets off to for his challenge. Follow the Spirit Beast Master to where Buster is, near a short bridge surrounded by dogs. Buster is fighting the other dog for Luna's love. Let the cutscene play out and then the quest will be finished.
