A decorated warhorse is now being sent to slaughter. Is there a way to save this old steed?

[1] Talk to the soldier at Steed's Pass.

The player saves a soldier from being knocked down by an angry horse. The soldier says he was tasked to kill this horse but doesn't really want to, believing that the horse can still do a lot despite being old. He begs the player to act as a villager with a complaint to his captain about horse killing, just in case it might help save the horse's life.

[2] Talk to the Platoon Leader.

The player will be transported to the Platoon Leader as soon as they tell the solider they are ready to depart. Talk to the Platoon Leader. The Platoon Leader asks to have a talk in private. He says not to hold animosity towards the solider as they were only following orders. The army usually takes care of their horses but this situation is different. He tells the player to observe the horse to see what he means.

The player determines that the horse must have been purposely bred for war. They weren't the kind of horse regular soldiers would own. Talk to the Platoon Leader again. He explains that the horse is old but spirited and tends to bully the other horses. No one can control them and the horse has become detrimental to the army. He says if the player can find an appropriate owner before the execution, then perhaps they can save the the horse, Night Vigil.

[3] Find an owner for Night Vigil.
・Give Night Vigil some Campbell Grass to eat. It's an herb that can be found around the area

Talk to the Hardened Soldier. He will tell the player that Night Vigil used to be Zhang Huaishen's horse. Night Vigil starts to throw a tantrum and ends up killing the soldier.

[4] Investigate the man's death.

Talk to the Staff Officer. Examine the veteran's corpse to understand why Night Vigil attacked them. The player realizes that the corpse has a disguise on and reports it to the Staff Officer.

[5] Wait until noon of the next day.
・Use the Time function to skip over to the designated time

[6] Oberve Night Vigil's fate.

Inform the Platoon Leader of what happened. He said that it cannot be helped. He tells the player to follow him to the execution site.

Talk to the Veteran. He informs the player that Night Vigil and all of their offspirng have been killed and their meat, distributed.
