You encounter the blooming menace on your way to the Labyrinth during the Raid Call quest. This towering plant relies on strong vine attacks, spore-based status effects, and devastating area attacks. Get your gardening tools out and prepare for a tough battle.
How to Beat Large Nepenthes Guide
[1] Heads Up! It Gets Worse.
The fight consists of three phases. After depleting its HP and severing its head, the Large Nepenthes regenerates and gains new or modified attacks in the next phase.
Its two-hit flailing attack gains a new effect in the next phase. Each vine slam now generates shockwaves from the tips, making the attack harder to dodge.
The slow-moving spore projectiles it hurls during the first phase become faster and more aggressive during the last two phases.
[2] Stop and Smell the Status Effects.
The Large Nepenthes has a colorful way of ruining your day. The spores it releases have two different colors which correspond to a specific debuff. During the second phase, it may expel purple spore clouds that inflict blind.
After reaching the final phase, it may spew pink spore clouds that apply sleep.
[3] Perform a Reversal Slash When It Charges.
The opportunity comes whenever it charges straight toward you. Perform the skill to interrupt its attack and stagger the plant.
[4] Study the Attacks of the Blooming Menace.
Most of its short-range attacks are directed straight ahead. Let your party members draw the the aggro while you strike it from behind.
Stay at a safe distance to make this attack easier to dodge. Avoid the flower mines and weave through the shockwaves. You can even use a Combination Skill's invincibility frames to evade it entirely.
Do not attempt to block the fan of laser beams. Correctly time your roll instead to evade it.
The boss drives its vines into the ground, producing several homing roots that pursue their target. Simply jump over these to easily avoid them.
