Echoes of Aincrad Game Overview
Ready to enter Aincrad? Here's a quick rundown of everything you'll be doing in Echoes of Aincrad, from exploring the world to gearing up for battle.
Character Creation
One of the most exciting parts of Echoes of Aincrad is finally creating your own avatar in the Sword Art Online universe. You'll have a variety of hairstyles, skin tones, body types, and voice options to choose from. Take your time here, since your look is final once you're done.
Leveling Up and Gear
Growth Points
Back in town, head to the Chest Orb at the Inn to spend your Growth Points and boost your stats.
Item Seller and Smithy
The Item Seller lets you buy or craft potions and other essentials using Col, while the Smithy can upgrade, fuse, and craft your weapons.
EX-Mods
You'll also stumble across EX-MODs as you explore. These random bonus effects can be applied to your gear or moved between weapons of the same type. Mix and match a few to find your own personal playstyle.
Exploring Aincrad
Aincrad is a massive world with two floors. Activate checkpoints to reveal the map for that area. Keep an eye out for map icons to find these:

Survey Flags | Treasure Chests & Blueprints |
Survey Flags are scattered throughout towns and the field. Interact with them to register data in the World Database. You'll also run into environmental gimmicks blocking your way, like destructible rocks, vines you'll need fire to burn through, or gaps you'll need to cross using special items.
Combat Basics
Battle Mechanics in Echoes of Aincrad
Fighting in Aincrad comes down to managing two resources: Stamina (for attacks, dodges, and blocking) and SP (for your Sword Skills). Run out of either, and you'll be left vulnerable, so use your strongest moves wisely.
Choose From a Variety of Weapons
You'll also want to pick a weapon that matches how you like to play. Swords let you pair a shield for balance, while heavier weapons like the two-handed axe go all-in on offense. Six weapon types are available in total. Try experimenting with all of them!
Partner System
What's more is that you're not fighting alone in this game! Every quest lets you bring a partner, and each one comes with their own Support and Combination Skills. Use Switch Mode to split enemy attention between you two, or Free Mode to team up on a single target or clear out groups efficiently.
Bosses and Arks
Arks are where you'll find extra boss fights beyond the ones tied to the story. Defeat the guardians and the Sealing Barrier blocking your path comes down. Lean on parries, dodges, and a well-timed Reversal Slash to get through these fights in one piece.
