A Sword Art Online No-Logout Easter Egg
The logout button in the menu may confuse first-time players, since clicking it displays "Now is not the time to log out" instead of actually logging you out. This is intentional, it's meant to recreate the trapped feeling from the original SAO story.
How to Log Out in Echoes of Aincrad
Quit the Game from the Settings Screen
Exit the game through the Settings Screen. Open it from the Main Menu, then select the rightmost tab to return to the Title Screen.
The Fake "Log Out" Button Will Disappear Later On
Once the Closed Beta Test arc ends and players become trapped in the real Death Game, this easter egg disappears too, staying true to the original Sword Art Online story.
Regardless of this change, the way to exit the game remains the same.
How to Save Your Progress in Echoes of Aincrad
Auto-save is Supported
Echoes of Aincrad doesn't have a manual save option, your progress saves automatically. This means you don't need to save before logging out.
