Can You Change Your Name in Echoes of Aincrad?
Before entering Aincrad, the game will ask players for their name. Here's everything you need to know about naming your character, from whether you can change it later to which names are restricted.
Your Name Likely Can't Be Changed Later
Based on current info, it seems like players won't be able to change names once it is set. The demo doesn't offer a way to change your name either. Choose carefully because this feature may not exist in the full game.
If you plan to carry your demo save into the full game, use the same name you want for your final playthrough, since it likely won't be editable later.
Restricted Character Names in Echoes of Aincrad
You Can't Use Story Character Names
Players can't use offensive language, words the game flags as inappropriate, or the names of most existing characters.
We tested this ourselves by typing Kirito, Asuna, Saayu, and Wyzeman, and all four were declined. You're welcome to experiment with other character names, but we'd recommend against it. Using a story character's name could get confusing once you're playing alongside them.
