Meeting Saayu
The Protagonist doesn't formally meet Saayu right at the start; instead, only Saayu's voice is heard. Saayu alongside the Protagonist's party is killed by the Player Killers (PK'ers) Stella and Foxglove.
The Protagonist officially meets Saayu along with Wyzeman at the Town of Beginnings after leaving the Protagonist's room in the Tavern.
Role and Kits
Unfortunately, Saayu is not available to be recruited as a companion/party member instead, she appears to exist purely as a story character, one whose role is to help set the tone for the game early on, establishing the stakes and danger of the death game rather than serving as a companion that the Protagonist can fight alongside with.
