Hattori Hanzo's scouting has informed us that Futamata Castle is nearing its breaking point. It is hard to believe such a formidable mountain fortress could be overrun in the blink of an eye. I must head there at once.
Mirage Fortress Walkthrough
[1] Retake Futamata Castle
Upon reaching the bridge during "The Battle of Futamata Castle - Part 1", it's time to help the people reclaim their fortress from the enemy!
Make your way up the hill to find Hattori Hanzo scouting the Castle.
Talk to Hanzo, and he’ll explain that he will strike from the rear while you assault the main entrance. Watch out for gunners! Choose between taking a stealthy approach or dismantling their command structure head-on.
Follow the path to the Futamata Castle - Riverside, then locate and pass through the Fake Wall to continue your progress.
[2] Search for Collectibles.
Much like the Crucible Manifested, there are several Valuables scattered throughout this Mission.
Below are the Collectibles and the locations where you can find them:
In addition to these items, there are also several small Kodamas hiding throughout this fortress:

[3] Defeat Baba Nobuharu.
When you reach the Futamata Castle - Defensive Gate Shrine, prepare yourself and equipment because the Castle is just up ahead.
Here are a few combat tips to know before opening the door that leads you to the boss fight:
・Baba Nobuharu's weakness is Lightning. Exploit this by switching to a Guardian Spirit with this attribute, such as Nekomata or Shin-Roku.
・For a more focused Lightning build, combine Uncanny Bolt Ninjutsu with the Bloodedge Demon Soul Core and the Thunderstorm Shot Talisman.
・Wait for the boss to finish his chain attacks. Since he relies on close-range most of the time, try to land strikes from behind to minimize the damage you take.
・Be patient on the offensive. Do not let his Mirage moves trick you into a false opening.
The massive Baba Nobuharu brings this moveset to the battlefield, using both his axe and sharp claws:
| Move | Showcase | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Mirage Attack | Baba Nobuharu usually uses mirages to mislead players right before delivering his actual attack. | |
| Slash and Slam Combo | Be careful for the boss's quick claw swipes followed by a heavy axe slam. | |
| Red Attack | This Yokai has a Burst Attack where he leaps into the air and crashes his axe down twice. | |
| Grab Attack | The enemy will raise his claws and attempt to grab you. Use the yellow and gray glow as an indicator for this move. | |
| Dark Realm Skills | Once you're in the Dark Realm, Baba Nobuharu has several dangerous Water-based abilities: ・Wave Attack happens when he drags his large axe across the floor and sends waves across the arena. ・Water Swipes are long-range attacks where he unleashes three blades toward you. ・Nobuharu also has an enhanced Jump Attack that blasts a pillar of water upward after hitting the ground. |
The Yokai has been slain! Proceed to grab your rewards to continue with The Battle of Futamata Castle - Part 2.
