Ceremony - Part 1 Quest Summary

Period: Edo - 1622 CE

Today is the day I make my public debut as shogun. Yet my swordsmanship and etiquette are lacking, and I feel that I am better suited to painting. Do I truly have the makings of a shogun?

There is still some time before the ceremony, and I should be training with Yagyu Munenori and my brother, Kunimatsu. I'd best follow him to the Dojo.

Ceremony - Part 1 Walkthrough

[1] Watch the Cutscene.

Play through the opening, which introduces the power of Spirit Stones and their impact throughout history.

Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu ended the bloody wars of the past. Now, one of his grandchildren bears the responsibility of maintaining that peace.

[2] Go through the Character Creation.

Before the first Main Quest begins, create your character! You can shift between your Samurai and Ninja styles.

[3] Head to the Dojo.

The "Ceremony" Main Quest begins in 1622 CE at Edo Castle. You'll also gain entries for the Amrita Memories as you progress the game:

Compass and ObjectivesObjectives appear as white markers on the Compass at the top right of your screen.

You can set the Compass in the Basic Game Settings under the System tab in the Main Menu.

It's time for your training! Head outside with Tokugawa Kunimatsu. Munenori is waiting for you at the dojo.

[4] Speak with Yagyu Munenori.

Once you arrive at the dojo, Munenori will greet you both and ask you to select a weapon for practice.

[5] Select a Weapon.

There are various displayed weapons behind Munenori, choose between Sword, Dual Sword, Spear, or Odachi. Feel free to try out any weapon until you find the one that suits you best.

WeaponDescription
SwordBalanced and easy to use.
Dual SwordOverwhelm opponents with multiple moves.
SpearEmploy attacks with great reach.
OdachiAttack with exceptional power and range.

[6] Speak with Yagyu Munenori.

When you're done selecting a weapon, talk to Yagyu Munenori again.

[7] Start Training with Tokugawa Kunimatsu.

To officially start your training, learn how to use the Gesture Menu by performing a Bow.

Focus on your opponent using the Lock-on feature. Then, land three Quick Attacks and three Strong Attacks on Kunimatsu. Remember that attacking and other actions will consume Ki.

Performing a Ki Pulse after an attack allows you to recover Ki. Try it out and execute this ability when you see blue lights around you.

It's Kunimatsu's turn to attack. Learn how to Guard and Dodge during this round.

After that, you'll get a tutorial about Arts Proficiency.

Charge the Arts Gauge by hitting enemies or guarding against their attacks. Once you're ready, unleash all your strength with Martial Arts.

[8] Defeat Kunimatsu.

You have finally learned the basics of the Samurai. Apply the offensive and defensive strategies from earlier to defeat Kunimatsu. Use an Elixir if you need to heal!

[9] Watch the Cutscene.

Edo Castle has fallen to the Yokai! Chaos erupts outside, and Munenori advises you to escape immediately.

[10] Withstand the Yokai Assault.

Join forces with Tokugawa Kunimatsu! As you leave the dojo and head toward the marked area on your Compass, "The Fall of Edo Castle" Mission will begin.
