Accursed Temple Quest Summary
Period: Bakumatsu - 1864 CE
Honnoji is famed as the site where Oda Nobunaga drew his last breath. Although the temple was rebuilt shortly after it was razed, it has now been consumed by the Crucible. An Ally of Takasugi's who goes by the name "Oryo" is somewhere in the Crucible. I must press on and purify the area.
Accursed Temple Walkthrough
[1] Continue through the Honnoji Temple Crucible.
"Accursed Temple" starts upon entering the Crucible in Honnoji Temple during the "Those Left Behind" Quest.
[2] Search for Collectibles.
AREA 1 - Honnoji Temple: Grounds
Unlock the first Bodhisattva Statue and go right until you reach a lantern next to a locked door, which you will have to return to later.
Go south, take out the enemy on the path, and enter the building with two lanterns at the entrance.

| Spike Trap |  | Move quickly through the areas with red smoke, it triggers a spike trap! You can also enter through a gap in the wall that leads to a hidden room. |

After exiting, turn right and jump across the gap. Follow the tunnel to the Centipede Bridge and continue walking until you reach a Spirit Vein, which you can use to traverse down.
You'll reach a branching path here. Head left first to clear out the enemies, then return and take the right path to advance.

| Secret Skills Text: Prelusive Arts Spirit Vein |  | Exit through the doorway and find a Chest that's blocked by a Wall Yokai (Nurikabe). After that, go back and use the Spirit Vein to cross to the other side. |
Enter the eastern building and defeat the enemies inside. Continue through to the exit, where you can finally unlock the door that creates a shortcut to the Starting Statue.
AREA 2 - Honnoji Temple: Hall
Prepare for more combat as you move forward. Use the broken roof to the right to ambush enemies from above before heading over to activate the next Bodhisattva Statue.
Pass through the broken wall to your left and reach the southern wall for some loot. Then, head through the open door into the next section.
Get rid of the Yokai along the way. When you reach the next fork, head right to get some items, or go left to find a Spirit Vein.

AREA 3 - Honnoji Temple: Temple Lodgings
Follow the path and defeat enemies until you reach a building. You can unlock the last Bodhisattva Statue there.

| Hot Spring |  | Enter the hut first to relax in the Hot Spring. You will receive Yokai Teardrops once you finish. |
Keep moving forward and take the right path toward the large doors leading to the Boss Room.
[3] Defeat Nuribotoke.
Once you open the door, a cutscene plays where you arrive just in time to save O-Ryo. The battle against Nuribotoke begins afterward!
・The Nuribotoke is a gigantic statue possessed by a Yokai. Don't get complacent with its slow movement; it has an incredible reach and heavy attacks.
・Watch out for its slam attacks and the Life Corrosion status effect. Remember that the only way to remove this is to stay aggressive and damage the boss.
・In the Dark Realm, the boss grows larger, moves quicker, and launches wild attacks from a distance.

| Lunge Attack |  | Nuribotoke will extend its arms to lunge at you, dragging its body along the ground to close the distance. Step to the side and try to deal damage from behind when it uses this Move. |
| Grab Attack |  | See the Yellow/Gray glow on its hands? Start moving away! The boss will outstretch its arms and clap hard to catch you. |
| Fire Skills |  | This Yokai can perform various Fire-based Moves: ・Raise its weapon to create a ring of fire that spreads across the ground. ・Shoot out several Fire Balls at you. It also has a deadlier version where it creates a single, massive explosion. |
| Lightning Skills |  | In addition to its fiery skills, the Nuribotoke also has lightning attacks. When you notice it charging up, keep your distance to avoid getting electrified. |
| Swipe and Slam (Dark Realm) |  | Now that its true form is out in the Dark Realm, stay alert to avoid its quick, continuous swipes and slams. |
| Burst Attack (Dark Realm) |  | Counter Red Attacks with Burst Break! This will greatly help you survive the Dark Realm. |
[4] Cleanse the Honnoji Temple Crucible.
Purify the Crucible after defeating Nuribotoke!
[5] Speak with Takasugi Shinsaku's Group.
After the cutscene, you can now speak with Takasugi Shinsaku to move on to the next Mission: "Final Hope".
