A Fiery Invasion - Part 1 Guide
Main Mission
A Fiery Invasion - Part 1 Quest Summary
Period: Warring States - 1572 CE
As I suspected, this was indeed a trap set by Shingen. Having been lured out, the Tokugawa forces were utterly crushed, leaving Grandfather and his compatriots isolated on the front lines. I must do whatever it takes to rescue them.
A Fiery Invasion - Part 1 Walkthrough
[1] Continue through the Takeda Camp.
As you reach the Camp during "The Battle of Mikatagahara - Part 1", Ieyasu and his forces are shown falling into an ambush.
Then, you reunite with Hanzo near the entrance. It is now up to you to rescue your grandfather and his remaining soldiers.
[2] Search for Collectibles.
Talk to Hanzo, and he will inform you that he is heading back to call for reinforcements. Next, you can go ahead and unlock the Mikatagahara - Tokugawa Camp Shrine.

Quick Warning: Be careful! As you go forward, you'll see this large Yokai. It will throw boulders at you.
Once that's over, you can defeat the other enemies while looking for the remaining items in this area.

| Samurai's Locks | Looted from a Small Chest. |
When you're finished collecting items and making preparations, head to the white marker on the map for a boss encounter.
[3] Defeat Yamagata Masakage (Yokai Form).
A familiar enemy will show up after you open the gate. It's Yamagata Masakage from "Escape from Hitokoto" Mission!
To Naotora's and your surprise, he transforms into a Yokai for this battle.
Here's a few Combat Tips to remember when facing Yamagata Masakage (Yokai Form):
・Unlike your first encounter, he now fights from horseback. Expect a faster, more aggressive opponent who is always on the move.
・In his Yokai form, Yamagata Masakage is vulnerable to Water damage. It's also wise to increase your resistance to fire-based attacks.
・Focus on countering his Red Attacks and practice the timing of your Burst Breaks.
| Move | Showcase | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Slash and Stab | Masakage’s melee attacks consist mostly of piercing stabs and slashes. Avoid getting caught in his combos! | |
| Circular Sweep | The boss drags its weapon across the ground in a full circle. This attack can easily catch you if you stay too close. | |
| Red Attack | When you see the red aura from the boss, counter it with Burst Break. While Masakage attacks, his horse will usually leap or stomp at you. | |
| Fire Arrow | For his long-range attacks, he fires several flame arrows. You can predict this move early when he pulls away and draws his bow. | |
| Dark Realm: Fiery Strikes | Masakage's attacks will be stronger in the Dark Realm. The enemy's slashes and stabs become infused with fire as well. | |
| Dark Realm: Circular Sweep | Keep your distance as his attacks often create trails of fire. His upgraded drag attack now leaves flames that burst shortly afterward. | |
| Dark Realm: Slice & Ring of Fire | Watch out for the flaming air slashes, which are followed by a ring of fire. |
After defeating the boss, a cutscene triggers showing you and Naotora speaking as a Crucible begins to spread.
It is also shown that your grandfather, Ieyasu, gets trapped inside that place.
