About Thestus
Thestus is a mysterious man awakened by the Harbinger using the Gloombound Flame. He has the ability to summon the night.

You can find Thestus on top of the tower in Marrow Keep.
Thestus Questline Walkthrough
[1] Find the Gloombound Flame.

Go to the Widow's Overlook where you can also find the Great Arbiter of the Flesh. The Great Arbiter of the Flesh will be wandering around in the same area where the Gloombound Flame is. Fight the Arbiter or try to snatch it.
[2] Go to the Tower in Marrow Keep and light the lantern.
At the top of the tower, you will find an extinguished lantern. Light it using the Gloombound Flame.
Rewards
By meeting with Thestus, you unlock the Night Mode. While the game has no difficulty setting, this gives you access to the "hard mode" of the game.
And during the night, you can also meet with The Collector, a merchant who is only available at night.
