Magdalena the Lady of the Woods Summary
The corpulent and plague-stricken Magdalena, awaits in the gloomy clearing within the Glutted Mire. She serves as the main boss in the area. Defeat her to obtain Magdalena's Memento, cleanse the corrupted gate, and recover the stolen Ova.

Where to Find Magdalena the Lady of the Woods
In the area where you fought The Wandering Shepherd, destroy the crates and squeeze through the wooden gates.
Follow the path and open the nearby chest to obtain the Etching Needles.
Drop from the broken bridge and head inside the tunnel. The boss is located at the center of the area just past Smert.

| Cannon Shot |  The boss loads an explosive round and fires it at the player. The arm briefly tracks the player before firing, so dodging too early can still result in getting hit. Instead, wait about a second after she points her arm before dodging. |
| Imp Shot |  Magdalena loads an imp into her prosthetic before firing at the player. Block the projectile or keep moving to avoid it. |

How to Beat Magdalena the Lady of the Woods
[1] Equip a Burnt Effigy before the fight.
Most of Magdalena's attacks inflict Burn, so equipping a Burnt Effigy to mitigate the status effect can make quite a difference during battle.

[2] Summon Smert to assist in battle.
Smert can be unlocked for one Glimpse as a permanent summon for the fight. They can draw Magdalena's attention, giving the player a chance to recover or safely deal damage.
[3] Stay at a safe distance as her attacks must be avoided.
Magdalena's attacks are often accompanied by a flashing red icon, indicating that they cannot be blocked or parried and must be completely avoided. Keep a safe distance throughout the fight, as she frequently follows up with a Flame Wheel attack.
[4] Patience is key to defeating the boss.
Avoid committing to long combos as a single mistake can leave you open to heavy damage. Instead, use a hit-and-run approach, switching between ranged and melee attacks to safely chip away Magdalena's health.
[5] Stick to her left side to avoid the spinning attack.
Flame Wheel is her most dangerous attack, as it can quickly stack Burn and deal massive damage. She spins counterclockwise after launching it, so staying on her left side buys enough time to land an attack and dodge before the flames reach the player.
[6] Focus on eliminating the reinforcements first.
After being hit by a Riposte, she summons several imps that hurl themselves at the player while she hangs back. These enemies can be Riposted immediately after a Perfect Guard, so quickly take them out before they swarm and overwhelm the player.
Spread them out to prevent multiple imps from attacking all at once and deal with them individually.
[7] Use appropriate Tarstones.
