Beginner's Tip's and Tricks
Mortal Shell 2 has similarities with Souls games. It does not have a difficulty setting. The player loses their Gloom when they die. And they will be teleported to their last beacon. But the game has things that you might need to know before starting that new save.
Missable Things in the Prologue [3]
While they don't necessarily ruin your run, there are missable items and trophies during the prologue. You cannot return to get them later on.
[1] Trollweed
When you spawn near the campfire, make sure to check the side of the house.
| Trollweed | |
|---|---|
| Description | A rare plant of dubious use. It's often confused for a far more potent variety. |
| Effect | It does nothing? |
| Note | At 1000 in inventory grants total immunity from all damage sources. |
[2] Flower Crown
Talk with Marigold at the end of the downward path and receive the flower crown. This unlocks the trophy, "Mid Summer?."
[3] Tar Golem Achievement
Tar Golem is a tutorial boss that may be too difficult for the Harbinger. However, it is possible to defeat it. Defeating the Tar Golem unlocks the trophy, "No, You Still Can't Win."
Limited Resource: Glimpse
Glimpses are an important resource in the game. However, they are limited resources. These are used to increase the bond the Harbinger has with their Shell. There are a total of eight (8) Shells. But, Glimpses are enough to fully unlock only three (3) Shells in a completionist run.
Recommended Setting
There are two (2) recommended settings that may make your run better.
| Auto Pick Up Gold | Yes |
| Camera Style | Action |
Auto Pick Up Gold
Some players might miss this, but this is a convenient way to make the run easier. It is simple but a nice change.
Camera Style: Action
It is best to set the Camera Style in Action. This Camera Style allows the player to have more coverage on the screen. This makes it easier to see the dangerous environment that the player has to uncover.
Changing the Difficulty
You can change the difficulty of Mortal Shell 2. It's not found in the settings but while playing the game.
Easy Mode
Equipping the Slayer Seal allows the player to play on Easy Mode. However, be warned that this disables achievements.
Hard Mode
Find Thestus at the top of the tower to summon the night. The Night Mode serves as the Hard Mode of the game. It gives tougher challenges but higher rewards.
Exit to Main Menu Trick
Exit to Main Menu trick is the best trick to never lose Gloom. Dying is tough in Mortal Shell 2. Once the player dies, they will lose all their Gloom. Exiting to the Main Menu just before you die will solve this.
You will be transported to the last Beacon, but you will still have your Gloom with you.
