Disciple's Pass Walkthrough

[1] Interact with the Shell.

A short cutscene about a person in armor traveling through various situations is shown before the settings of the games can be adjusted. They seem to be carrying an egg of great importance.

Lore of the Undermether's last remaining egg is introduced. You, the Harbinger, wake up. Go and test out the movement controls by exploring the area around you.

Exit the area and look around Forlorn Village. Talk to NPCs or listen to conversations.

When you're ready, approach the suit of armor. You will be transported into an empty space, clothes stripped off of you. The Undermether talks to you about a knight called Harros, calling him a vessel as you walk forward.

You gain the shell, Harros.

Tutorial
Shells are the unique mechanic of the Mortal Shell series! Each shell has a specialty gameplay style with specific weapons they can use. There are a total of 8 shells in this game.
In addition, your appearance will change when inhabiting a shell! This is one of the ways to see an appearance change in your character.

You wake up and all the pilgrims have been frozen by the power of you making contact with the shell. You gain the weapon, The Iconoclast, and the Sidearm, Naylshotte. You also obtain the Untarnished Seal.

[2] Explore Disciple's Pass.

Find where Ruk, the large raven, is and proceed to go behind them. Destroy the obstacles in the way using either a Light Attack or a Heavy Attack.

Tutorial
Certain enemies are vulnerable to certain attacks. Experiment and see if they are weak to light, heavy, or ranged attacks.

You will drop down to a desolated area where enemies will be present. Deal with them accordingly, but head north when you are through.

Whenever you kill an enemy, you will obtain some coins and Gloom. Gloom is used in leveling up the Harbinger. If you die, all accumulated Gloom disappears, but can be recovered in the location of your last death.

Exploration Tip

You can also obtain Gloom by destroying these shining orbs.

Head up the stairs and keep going on that path.

Tutorial
Losing some HP? Try healing with the Mother's Pulse. You can heal up to the number of times indicated in the lower left of your screen.

Interact with the statue to learn about ranged attacks. Sidearms can attack from a distance and use up resolve. Resolve is the yellow bar above the HP bar. It is accumulated by landing melee hits.

[3] Find a Beacon.

After climbing to the top, find the destroyed wall filled in with boxes. Drop down from there and move forward.

You will find a Revitalized Beacon. Interact with it to obtain a checkpoint. If you die, this is where you will respawn. Here, you can regain health and resolve, but will also trigger the respawn of the enemies in the area. Some beacons will be corrupted and will hold more features once cleansed.

Enter the beacon and go down to the Overgrown Temple.

Press the plate to lift up a gate.

Cleanse the corruption and then return to the surface.

[4] Continue exploring the pass.

Pass the Beacon and head straight forward. Interact with the structure as seen below. It will show you that each shell has unique skills and these skills can be used with resolve. Harros in particular, has Stone Stun, which petrifies enemies, much like how it petrified the pilgrims.

When you inhabit a shell, you and the shell forge a connection. The first time your HP drops to 0, that connection is severed. In order to reclaim it, you need to deal Melee attacks to foes. The shells you will obtain in the future will need even more bloodshed to be reclaimed if the connection is severed. Death is when you die without a Shell.

At the end of either path forking from the structure, you will end up at the lake where a mini-boss is present.

[5] Defeat the Gloombound Ritualist.

They can deal long-ranged fireballs with their staff. Don't forget you can use your Shell Ability to your advantage.

[6] Make your way through the area.

Head out of the lake through this path. There is a cave going west. Go through there and stay on the path. Defeat the enemies that come your way.

Once you reach this structure (items can be collected here), take the path to the right of where you came from. It is recognizable by the stone arch and the wooden bridge it leads to.

Go inside the cave to find another Beacon.

Head to the exit to the left of the Beacon.

If you go past this tree, a boss will be waiting for you.

[7] Defeat the Tainted Vestige.

This enemy will send you fire through the underground so watch the ground! They have powerful arm swings and can make an explosion of fire by pounding on the ground.

Be careful not to be caught in their grip! They will chomp on you with their middle before throwing you away!

[8] Learn how to use Guard.

Return to the Beacon and head east this time. Interact with the pillar.

The Untarnished Seal allows you to block enemies. Blocking at the right time will create a Perfect Guard that will additionally damage the enemy. Perfect Guard does not take up any guard energy unlike a regular guard. Once out of guard energy, you become stunned and will move slower. Head right to practice the guard skill with an enemy.

Tutorial
Doing consecutive Perfect Guards can break the enemy, leaving them in the state of Riposte.

After defeating the enemy, use the current at the back of the area to launch yourself up.

Stay on the path. You will meet Ruk again, and he will warn you to be careful. He is forgetting the specifics, but he can feel there is danger lurking about.

Press forward. When you see the great chasm between you and the area below, find the current going towards the open area to push you towards it. DO NOT try to drop down by yourself, else you will die and respawn at the Beacon.

Pick up the torch by the broken wall. You will awaken something rather sinister.

[9] Defeat the Tar Golem.

The golem will drag its two axes towards you and try to catch you in the middle. It can also jump and then slam its weapon onto the ground. Since it hits heavy, try attacking from a distance with your Sidearm.

The best time to parry is when it tries to hit you with only one axe at a time. You can use your Stone Stun to accumulate damage that adds to its break bar.

When the boss' HP is halfway down, someone will come and help you finish them off. Unfortunately, they are killed by the golem with their dying breath.

Upon defeating the boss, you will obtain Vatra's Seal, which allows you to Harden your flesh. You cannot move or attack while this is activated. Like the Untarnished Seal, doing harden at the right time will incur a Perfect Harden.

[10] Obtain the egg.

Exit through the hole where the golem came from and use the elevator to go up.

Keep on going forward until you reach the outside. Ruk will call out to you, saying that there is a lone egg that maybe the Harbinger can cleanse.

Interact with the egg. Choose to commune with the Undermether.

The Open Beta data will only carry up to this point. When you play the full game, you will receive an exclusive skin called the Flayed Harbinger.
