The Lost Child Attack Patterns
The table below lists the attack details of The Lost Child.
| Attack | Description |
|---|---|
| Wide Smack | The creature pulls its left arm to the side before smacking its target with brutal force. Avoid guarding or hardening too early as there is a slight delay before it executes this move. |
| Sudden Swipe | It quickly sprints toward the player before swinging its arm with enough force to them flying. The timing for blocking or parrying is tight but it is possible. Guard as soon as it begins to sprint to counter the attack. |
| Overhead Pound | It raises its arm shortly before pounding the ground. Wait for a full second before guarding or hardening to block the attack. |
| Chin Slam | The creature slams its chin forcefully onto the ground. This attack cannot be blocked so dodge as soon as its face moves out of the camera frame. |
| Leap | The Lost Child backs away before suddenly leaping and slamming its chin on the player. This attack cannot be blocked or parried, so dodge away as soon as it becomes airborne. |
| Forceful Grab | It raises its arm before grabbing the player. If caught, the player is repeatedly smashed on the ground and hurled away after. |
| Brutal Chomp | The Lost Child launches the player in the air before munching and expelling them afterward. This move is a certified death sentence if it catches the player in their base form. |
| Excrement Launcher | The creature runs back and launches several toxic projectiles from its rear end. These cannot be blocked and apply Poison when hit, so keep spamming dodge until the move ends. |
| Inhale & Expel | It sucks nearby debris with its mouth before forcefully expelling them. Move back as soon as it starts inhaling as this incoming projectiles cannot be blocked. Beware as this move deals enough accumulated damage to sever your shell or end the fight. |
| Three-Hit Bite | The Lost Child performs three consecutive bites that can be blocked or parried. Watch the head tilts to predict when to guard or dodge backward to avoid the attack. |
How to Beat The Lost Child
[1] Summon Tiel to aid in battle.
The player can summon Tiel to assist them if they are not using his Shell. Let him take The Lost Child's aggro while you hack away at its back with heavy attacks. This is also the perfect opportunity to apply status ailments if you can.
[2] Equip a Tarspore to cure or reduce the ill effects of its Excrement Launcher.
The toxic projectiles expelled by the boss inflicts Poison, making the Tarspore a viable item to negate the status ailment. These can be found in abundance near the Beacon in Outskirts of Nochte.
[3] It gains new attacks after every scripted Riposte.
After the first Riposte at 75% HP, the boss gains Inhale & Expel, Forceful Grab, and Sudden Swipe. Below 50% HP, it then gains Overhead Pound and Three-Hit Bite.
[4] Take advantage of its opening near the end of Inhale & Expel.
The combo takes a while to finish but has an opening that can be exploited. Close the distance as soon as its head turns left to land an attack while it recovers.
[5] Focus on dodging its attacks after the first phase.
Once the boss gains Forceful Grab and Brutal Chomp, prioritize evading its attacks and striking only during its recovery, as getting caught can deal enough damage to sever the player from their Shell. A good strategy is to dodge to the right and follow with a counter.
[6] Use appropriate Tarstones to make the fight easier.
The following Tarstones are effective in this fight:
- Hand of Rock
- Blackblood Stone
- Barrage Stone
- Splitting Stone
