Ursa Boss Guide
[1] Equip gear and items that give Acid damage and/or inflict corrosion.
- Acid Arrows and Acid Bolts are great in this fight if you have enough but the bolts might be harder to have on stock. Make every shot count.
- Equip Emma with the Hazebringer to inflict corrosion even faster.
If you don't have the Hazebringer yet, it's in the Mountainous Region in Matsukawa Zone. Some missed items become available in shops later on so always check with merchants and Brad as well.
Tip: Don't forget to check Koo's gear, he also has skills and items that inflict corrosion.
[2] Learn Ursa's attack patterns and timings.
The table below contains all the attack details of Ursa.
| Attack | Description |
|---|---|
| Hand Slam | Ursa leaps and strikes the player with its right hand. Perform a guard while it is airborne to successfully parry the attack. |
| Rock Throw | This attack has two variations, but both ending with the boss throwing rocks at the player. Depending on the distance, either dodge just before the projectiles hit or wait briefly after it plunges its claws into the ground before evading. |
| Double Swing & Stomp Combo | Ursa swings both of its arms at the player before following up with a stomp. The stomp attack has a different timing from the swings, but it is still safer to guard early to ensure the attack is blocked |
| Bloom Explosion | The beast thrusts its claws into the ground, forming roots around itself before triggering flowers to erupt from the rooted area. Its initial thrust can be parried or blocked, but the flowers must be avoided. There is a slight delay before the flowers emerge, so wait for a second before dodging. |
| Eight-hit Barrage | Ursa grows brightly before wildly swinging its arms six times before following up with a belly flop. After landing, it briefly roars before performing an overhead smash. All attacks can be blocked and parried except for the belly flop. The boss might shortly pursue the player after recovering to perform the overhead smash. |
| Homing Bloom Strike | The boss plunges both claws into the ground, creating roots that chase the player before bursting upward. This attack cannot be blocked or parried so dodge the roots just before they hit. Remember to keep an eye on Ursa during the attack, as it can quickly follow up with a Rock Toss or another attack. |
[3] Use Koo's Bloom Arts to inflict corrosion.
Nobudou: Burst I & II are both highly effective at building Ursa's status meter. Successfully inflicting corrosion staggers the beast, leaves it vulnerable, and deals extra damage-over-time. You can further enhance the skills by applying relevant Skill Mods such as Status Effect Amp or Odd Appetite.
