Ancient Civilization Zone Summary

Brad and Emma arrive at the Ancient Civilization Zone to hunt for the next Nushi. Along the way, she meets new faces: Kunai and Mikoto. Kunai is another Purifier who shares Emma's goal of defeating the Beast of Reincarnation. At the same time, Mikoto can control the Blight with his voice, but only to a certain extent. Eventually, Emma defeats the Nushi and Lacerta and proceeds to the next zone.

Ancient Civilization Zone Walkthrough

[1] Head to the Reservoir

Brad will tell Emma that the next zone is littered with golems, malefacts, and the Nushi that she needs to take care of.

As you make your way through the first area, the way forward is blocked by a gate. There's a stack of containers that you can climb on.

There is a Camp: Checkpoint across from where you are.

Head to the building on the other side. A control panel is located inside; activate it to open the gate and continue with the mission.

There will be another gate blocking you, so backtrack a bit to where you can see some walls that you can climb. Head left where you will see an elevator; use it.

Keep moving until you find another path that is blocked. There's an elevator that you can use that will take you to the underground ruins.

[2] Find the Gate

Press forward until you trigger a cutscene. A golem will reactivate, surprised to see a Purifier like Emma around. Instead of fighting, it will help you find the reservoir and tell you to open the nearby gate.

The problem is that it needs power, so it's up to Emma to find the power source, which is located in two areas: the path behind her and the floor below, accessible by crossing the river.

[3] Power the Gate

• Lower Floor

Start by crossing the bridge and dealing with the malefact. Head towards the door.

Once inside, run towards the stairs then jump down to trigger another cutscene.

A massive golem behind you will wake up to fight you so get ready!

With the golem "defeated," Emma walks away. Still, just as the Golem was about to attack again, someone dealt the finishing blow. The woman asks Emma if she's going to the Capital to defeat the Beast of Reincarnation, and when she says yes, the woman says that she also has the same goal. She introduces herself as Kunai and tells Emma to stay in touch.

Make your way past the door where a couple of enemies will show up. Defeat them to progress

Keep moving through the railway until you see a control panel. Activate it to power up the gate.

• Upper Floor

Head back to the entrance of the gate then head left towards an elevator. The path going to the control panel is straight forward but riddled with enemies.

Interact with the control panel to activate the elevator after turning on the generator.

[4] Activate the Gate

Activate the gate then head to the reservoir. After a few short steps, a loud roar could be heard. Emma and Koo proceed further inward.

Emma and Koo make it to the other side of the reservoir when the Nushi, Lacerta attacks! After taking care of Lacerta, the Nushi will run away.

[5] Investigate the Nushi's Escape Route

Emma and Koo reach a dead end. Violet tells Emma that the beast must have fled to the surface and may have something to do with that closed gate. Violet surmises that it went to its lair. For now, they focus on finding a way to get the gate open.

[6] Search for the Control Room

Head to the control room.

Unfortunately, the control panel has no power and the only way to unlock it is to gather a lighting stone which are held by some golems. Luckily, Koo was able to track a scent.

[7] Gather Lightning Stones

Follow the marker on your map until a cutscene will play out. A golem carrying a lightning stone is attacking someone who seems to carry the same symptoms of Blight as Emma.

After Emma defeats the golem and gathers the lightning stones, the person explains that he has the ability to hear the voices of Malefacts and control the Blight to a certain extent. As thanks, he augments the power of your hair. Before leaving, he introduces himself as Mikoto and tells you to stay in touch.

[8] Head to the Nushi's Lair

With the lightning stones in hand, head back to control room and power up the gate. A gate will open leading you towards the Nushi's lair.

[9] Defeat Lacerta

Fight your way through, and then Lacerta will spawn one last time.

After defeating it, Emma and Koo will absorb its powers and pass out.

A cutscene will play out where Violet contemplates who she is before Emma wakes up in the Cleanse Driver.

Unable to sleep, Emma talks to Brad about the Beast of Reincarnation's origins and source of immortality. Brad says that the beast is tied to a comet, and it's up to Emma to figure out its secret.

In another cutscene, a distressed Violet asks where she's from, to which the Beast of Reincarnation's disembodied voice tells her that she is from Shambalah. Thus ends Chapter 2.
