Shidou and Nue Summary
A mysterious purifier joins the mix. As Emma and Koo pursue the Nue Nushi, Shidou intervenes and challenges the duo with his blade.
Shidou and Nue Boss Guide
[1] Focus on battling one boss at a time.
Shidou and Nue take turns attacking you rather than acting at the same time. However, be cautious as targeting an inactive boss during an attack can trigger both to strike at once, potentially overpowering you.
[2] Both are weak against poison-type attacks.
Equip the Hunter's Sword, Poison Bolts, and Poison Arrows as these are all highly effective at wearing down the bosses.
If you don't have the manual for Poison Arrows yet, a Golem Keeper has some information about it. If you don't want to spend a question, it's guarded by enemies west of the Flower Field Tower campsite.
You can also buy Skill Amber: Poison Fang from the merchant.
Use Emma's Nushi Skill: Dokuzeri Shower and Koo's Dokuzeri: Fang whenever possible to hasten poison stacking.
Don't forget to check Koo's charms, some of them give poison damage as well.
[3] Learn Shidou and Nue's attack patterns.
The table below contains the different attack details of Shidou and Nue.
| Shidou | |
|---|---|
| Attack | Description |
| Twin Strike | Shidou swiftly unsheathes his sword and performs two consecutive slashes. The rhythm of the strikes are similar to each other. |
| Four Slash Strike | The move has a similar cue and rhythm with the Twin Strike, with only the addition of two extra slashes. |
| Double Vine Whip | Shidou's left arm turns into a long wooden whip before promptly lashing the player twice. Guard as soon as you see the whip reel back to perform a successful parry. |
| Plunging Katana Strike | He elevates himself before plunging at the player with an overhead slash. Do not attempt to block this attack, instead, dodge before he lands to execute a perfect dodge. |
| Nue Malefact | |
|---|---|
| Attack | Description |
| Double Tail Swing | Nue growls before performing two consecutive spins, whipping the player with its tail during each rotation. The long windups make these attacks ideal opportunities to parry. |
| Five-Hit Claw & Slam Combo | The boss performs a combo consisting of five consecutive claw swipes followed by a body slam. Memorize the rhythm of each swipe, as the timing between attacks is quite varied. |
| Lightning Pounce | The beast glows and roars before performing a pounce attack. Watch for the red flash and wait for it to briefly stop in the air before dodging. If you maintain enough distance, it may fail to reach you during the attack. |
| Lightning Strike | Nue Malefact summons five consecutive lightning strikes that target the player's last location. Dodge or reposition as soon as you see the red flash. |
| Body Slam | The beast raises its front arms before executing a body slam. When the red flash appears, dodge to avoid getting crushed. |
[4] Stop Shidou from recovering HP by interrupting his link to Nue.
When Shidou is low on health, he will latch a root onto Nue and siphon its health to recover his own HP. The channeling can be disrupted anytime by attacking him. After interrupting the link, the two become vulnerable for a period of time, giving you the opportunity to attack.
Tip: Using Koo's Higanbana: Roots will instantly cancel the link between the two.
