In the Light of an Icy Moon Summary
Musashi arrives at Arashiyama to find it completely corrupted by the Malice. Along the way, he learns more about Minamoto no Yoshitsune, his plans, and other unsavory things.

In the Light of an Icy Moon Walkthrough
[1] Investigate Arashiyama
Use the Spirit Mirror to transport yourself to Arashiyama.
[2] Defeat all the Genma
Follow the map until you trigger a cutscene. Defeat all the Genma that appear afterwards. Be careful of the Dohatsu-ten - Heaven's Bane that will also spawn.
[3] Seal the Rift
Once the Genma are gone, seal the Rift, then proceed.
[4] Continue Onward
Keep moving until you encounter a blocked path with a statue in the middle for a puzzle that you need to solve.
[5] Find the Hidden Path
Interact with the tombstone on the right. It says "When going through hell, one must keep going".
Next, interact with the ornament in the middle. There are several statues showing different phases of Buddhism. Look for the statue that says Hell, then walk in the direction that statue is facing.
Walk towards this specific rock formation because it's just an illusion.
Interact with the glowing eye.
[6] Take the Oni Shortcut
The next area is somewhat similar to the Oni Refuge earlier in the game. What you need to do is shoot the Oni Gates in a specific order.

 | Finally, head down the slope and shoot this gate. |
Traverse the makeshift bridge, then wall run.
Exit the shortcut using the glowing eye.
[7] Head for the center of the key sanctuary
- Seal the Rift
Once you arrive at the next area, the swamp is teeming with Malice, so be careful. Start by opening the barrier with Oni power.
Head to the entrance to the right, with a ramp formed by Malice.
Destroy the first plant.
Backtrack, then wall run to the opposite side.
A Rift will spawn before you can destroy the second plant.
Destroy the third plant.
Keep going straight until you see another Malice Barrier. Break it down with Oni Power.
Follow the map, then climb the ladder leaning against the left house.
- Destroy the Cannon
The next area requires you to destroy the cannon overhead. Start by heading to the gate to the right and shoot the explosives above it. Take cover, as the cannon will periodically fire at you.
Once you get close to the cannon, shoot the explosives on the left.
After getting through the gate, climb the ladder on the right.
- Absorb the dark mass
A dark mass will appear in front of Musashi, which he will absorb.
A cutscene will play where Ganryu and Gioh are resting (feasting) in Arashiyama. Dokyo appears before them and offers a deal with Ganryu: he can have all the souls he can feast on if he joins in her little gardening experiment. Ganryu willingly accepts, much to Gioh's disgust.
[8] Look for Dokyo and Ganryu
- Sever the threads at their source
Destroy three threads scattered throughout the area. Use Oni Vision to locate them!

- Defeat the Genma
Enter the next area where a cutscene will trigger. A samurai is desperately keeping himself alive against a Genma onslaught. Help him defeat all the Genma.
After killing all the Genma, the samurai gives Musashi a Rear Gate Key that unlocks the next area.
- Absorb the dark mass
Musashi absorbs another dark mass, which triggers another cutscene. This time, Ganryu is seen devouring corpses left and right. Gioh tries to stop him, assuring him that it's enough. He retorts that he needs to eat more so he can go to Hell and kill Yoshitsune. Ganryu asks Dokyo why she follows Yoshitsune; she cryptically replies that it should be kept a secret.
- Destroy the gate
Press forward until you see another cannon. Climb the tower composed of Malice, then shoot the explosives.
There will be another gate with a cannon on top. Go to the Malice structure, then shoot the explosives.
[9] Head for the top of the tower
- Seal the Rift
Begin your ascent towards the tower! A Rift spawns after a few steps. Take out the Genma and absorb it.
Another Rift will spawn as you get close to the tower.
- Absorb the dark mass
Musashi absorbs the last dark mass of this chapter. This time, it shows Dokyo and Yoshitsune when he was still in Onimusha.
Dokyo somehow feels a gaze from a hundred years in the past. Shizuka demands to know how Dokyo could create the gauntlets, to which Dokyo says her people gave the Oni the skills to do so.
Yoshitsune meanwhile exclaims his plan to stain Hell and the mortal world red with Oni power bestowed on him.
Suddenly, in a jump scare, Yoshitsune forces Musashi down the tower, screaming that everything will go according to his plan, no exceptions.
[10] Confront Ganryu
Follow the map and fight your way towards Ganryu.
[11] Defeat Dokyo
Once Ganryu is defeated, head towards the final location in Arashiyama. There, Musashi encounters Dokyo, who proceeds to do the unspeakable. She displays the rotting corpse of Shizuka, then throws it to the Genma like meat for the dogs. Indignant, she asks Musashi to kill Dokyo for her, to which he obliges.
After killing Dokyo, she curses her fate and questions why the gods punished her.
She bemoans that she was once called Kaguya and loved the name given to her before dying...or so we thought.
