Clear Kiyomizu-dera Temple from malice by purifying the area. With the help of Gauntlet lady, navigate your way until you meet Sasaki Ganryu.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple Walkthrough

[1] Start at the Spirit Mirror.

Spirit Mirrors are Save Points in Onimusha. You can save your progress and restore your health here. You can also access the storehouse and change difficulty level.

[2] Learn How to Execute Issen and Other Combat mechanics.

During this part, check the Tips section and go to Combat Basics. Here you will immediately learn Issen and Chain Issen. If you want to fight the secret boss, learn how to execute Issen.

Issen: Press your Attack Button Just Before Being Hit

You can dodge an attack and hit back with a deadly counter, but it requires even more precise timing than a parry or a Reflex Dodge.

Chain Issen: Press your Attack Button When an Issen Lands

Allow continuous Issen attacks to be performed against enemies. Pressing the attack button when an Issen attack lands will trigger a Chain Issen, and pressing the attack button again when that lands will cause it to continue.

[3] Defeat the Genma.

There will be four (4) enemies blocking the gate. Defeat them usign what you learned. After defeating them, you can enter the temple area and meet the gatekeeper.

[4] Keep advancing and defeat the enemies along the way.

The path to the temple is linear. So, keep on advancing and clear the area from enemies. By this time, you can access the map. There is a quest marker available to indicate your destination.

On your way, the game will provide combat tips. Learn which attacks to parry, block, or evade.

[5] Pick up Hozuki, Talismans, and other loot.

Pick up Hozuki. They serve as healing items. Yellow Souls can give you HP too. But Hozuki provides more healing.

[6] Use the Oni Vision to open the blocked path.

Your Oni Gauntlet will light up when hidden objects are nearby. You will first encounter this when you reach a path that seems to be blocked by a translucent thread.

Follow the red thread. Hitting the floating hand will open the path.

[7] Unlock the next path blocked by threads.

Follow the threads again. This time there are two hands.

First Hand Location

Find the first hand inside a room. Defeat the crowd of Genma first.

Second Hand Location

Enter the bigger room and defeat the Genma there. Use assassination to avoid direct combat. Simply walk and wait for the execution prompt to appear.

Break the lock and get ready to fight another crowd of Genma. Be careful, there is more of them here. Make use of Chain Issen to quickly finish the fight.

Go through the narrow path to find the second hand, beside it is the chest containing The Two Celstials.

[8] Return to the Blocked Path.

Along the way, you will face a different kind of Genma. You will learn about the Blue Souls which can fill the Oni Power Gauge. Filling the Oni Power Gauge allows you to use the Oni Armament, Two Celestials.

[9] Defeat Sasaki Ganryu.

Like Musashi, Ganryu has an Oni Gauntlet too. He strikes fast, and his moves are deadly.

Learn Break Issen and Bosses. Ganryu serves as your tutorial to boss fights. There are certain areas on the boss that you can target. Press the attack button on your target area.

[10] Head to the area below the temple's stage.

Head to the newly opened path. Absorb the third dark mass to get a look at the next boss.
