PC Crash and Performance Fixes - Clive Barker's Hellraiser Revival

PC Performance Issues and Fixes

Hardware configurations vary widely across PC builds, so performance can occasionally be inconsistent. This is especially noticeable on mid-range setups when attempting to run demanding modern games.

Known Issues and Possible Causes

Crashing on DX12

Some mid-range PCs crash when running the game in DirectX 12 due to hardware-accelerated ray tracing. This stems from a combination of hardware-specific conflicts and unoptimized settings.

Stuttering (Unreal Engine 5)

Many players experience frame stuttering typical of games built on Unreal Engine 5. While performance varies from system to system based on optimization, these hitches are far more common on entry-level or lower-tier hardware.

Black Screen on Launch

There are also reports of the game failing to launch or hanging indefinitely on a black screen.

Reported Fixes

Force DX11

If DX12 causes instability, try forcing the game to launch with DirectX 11. To do this, open your Steam launch options and add -dx11 or -d3d11.

Force Windowed Borderless Mode

Some players who get stuck on a black screen after launch fixed the issue by adding -windowed to the launch options, forcing the game to run in windowed mode.

Move the Installation Folder to an SSD

Stuttering and sudden frame hitches often stem from slow storage drives when installing large modern titles on traditional HDDs. Transferring the installation files to a solid-state drive (preferably an NVMe SSD) significantly improves loading times and cuts down on stuttering.

Verify Game Files

Crashes due to corrupted game files can be fixed with a simple integrity check. Verify your game's files and let Steam download any missing or corrupted parts.
