How to Beat Marlowe - Clive Barker's Hellraiser Revival

Marlowe Summary

Colin Marlowe is the leader of the Scarlet Church who thought himself a god and believes it is his destiny to become a Cenobite. His reverence to the Cenobites come at the cost of his as he attempts to use the Genesis Configuration to become one. His one and only friend, Bruno Keller, is the closest he will ever get to having someone understand him.

Marlowe Attack Patterns

Marlowe's attacks are simple and straightforward, your biggest problem is simply timing your dodge as his attacks may connect awkwardly due to his large frame.

How to Beat Marlowe

[1] Aim for Marlowe's weak points; the bodies on his back.

Marlowe's weakness are the bodies with orange glow on top of him. Shoot at them continuously until all get separated from him.

Every time one body is ripped away from Marlowe, he is staggered momentarily. Use this time to deal extra damage to Marlowe.

[2] Prepare to escape the grab attack when you get knocked down.

Getting hit every now and then is not that big of a deal as you can always heal back up. However, you may get caught in surprise once he grabs you after the first knockdown.

Every time you are knocked down, Marlowe will grab you and try to hurt you more. Fortunately, you can escape his grab by simply clicking on the attack button once the prompt to escape shows up.

If, for some reason, you are having a hard time escaping, simply try to avoid getting hit directly by his attacks to not get knocked down.

[3] Reposition for a better angle when Marlowe's hands are up.

Marlowe will occasionally raise his hands up to protect his weakness. When this happens, try to reposition for a better shot at the bodies on his head.

If you can't reposition, try to bait out an attack and dodge instead.

[4] Use the environment in the 2nd Phase of the fight.

After dealing enough damage to Marlowe, he will throw you across the church and the 2nd phase of the fight starts.

After dealing enough damage to Marlowe again, certain environmental objects may spawn that can be used to hurt him significantly.

Spiked Rock Walls

The first environmental objects to spawn are the three spiked rock walls in the ground. Use the Genesis Configuration to lift it up from the ground and position yourself where it is between you and Marlowe.

Then, wait for Marlowe to charge or jump towards you while the wall is up and between you two. Marlowe will hit the wall, break it, and get hurt in the process.

Spiked Rock Pillars

The second environmental objects to spawn are three spinning spiked rock pillars in between the watching Cenobites. Use the Genesis Configuration to drag it to the middle of the arena and bait Marlowe to run towards it or smash them to him if he is already there.

Spiked Rock Cubes

The third and last environmental objects to spawn are multiple spiked rock cubes hanging in the air. Use any gun to shoot at the chains that hold the rock cubes to let them fall.

Aim to drop the cubes on Marlowe so you need to bait him underneath a cube before shooting at the chain. It is important that you shoot the chain as shooting any other part of the cube will not make it fall.

Marlowe Rewards

You will receive Marlowe's Heart as a reward after defeating him. Give it to Sunny to restore her health.
