A barkeeper asks for your help in dispatching a group of thaumata that cannot be defeated through conventional means.

My Family's Motto Walkthrough

[1] Talk to the Barkeeper.

The barkeeper could be seen in the tavern just south of the Kingdom of Huther. He explains to you that a group of thaumata has been seen in the snowfields. The problem is that no matter how many times they're destroyed, they keep on returning.

While chatting, a newly hired server breaks a plate, to which the barkeeper scolds her for her clumsiness, all while deducting her pay. The barkeeper justifies this by invoking the family motto: "Even 'things' deserve respect." Elliot finds the situation strange, so he decides to explore the snowfields to deal with the situation.

[2] Head to the Snowfields.

Follow the quest marker on your map to make your way to the snowfields. When you arrive, defeat the group of thaumata present.

[3] Defeat the Thaumata.

After defeating the thaumata, Elliot points out that they are drawn to a specific spot, as if they're guarding something or someone. Faie suggests that heading back to the past would shed light on the situation.

[4] Head back to the Age of Reconstruction.

Go back to the spot and the same group of thaumata will spawn.

After defeating them, Elliot and Faie discover a very old skeleton in the same spot, which must be the source of the thaumata. Faie considers going back further to figure out who this skeleton is.

[4] Head back to the Age of Magic.

Make your way back, and you'll see the thaumuata again. Before they could attack, they were stopped by a traveling merchant who was suffering from hypothermia. Acting quickly, Faie lights a fire to keep him warm.

The traveler thanks you and explains that he was transporting cargo until he was attacked. With his wagon in disrepair, he proceeded on foot, but he would've died had it not been for you two.

The merchant explains that his mindset comes from his family's motto: "Even 'things' deserve respect." Realizing the dangers of placing possessions over his well-being, he makes a new motto: "People over possessions."

[5] Return to the Tavern.

When you return to the tavern during the Age of Safekeeping, the barkeeper tells you that the thaumata has not shown up and assumes it has something to do with your doing.

The server breaks a plate just like before, but instead of criticizing her, the barkeeper asks her if she's hurt. The barkeeper then gives her money to help her get patched and gives her the day off. Just like the barkeeper's family motto said: "People over possessions."

The barkeeper gives an Empty Glass Vial for your troubles.

Where to Use an Empty Glass Vial?

After receiving an Empty Glass Vial, take it to a shop and fill it with a recovery item of your choice. Once filled, the vial keeps that item until it's used up.
