Elliot chances upon Diona being audibly frustrated about Heurich avoiding her. Elliot looks for Heurich, hoping they can reconcile.

How to Unlock The Long Way Around

This is available after first arriving in the Age of Magic.

The Long Way Around Walkthrough

[1] Talk to Diona.

Talk to Diona. She is overheard by Elliot expressing her frustration towards Heurich.

Diona explains that Heurich seems to be avoiding her and running away when she wants to talk. She asks to send Heurich her way if Elliot spots him.

[2] Look for Heurich.

Talk to the Bug-Loving Young Lady to learn that Heurich was last seen at the tavern.

Head to the tavern. Heurich says now's not a good time to talk to Diona and asks Elliot to distract her in the meantime. Elliot refuses but he pushes the responsibility onto him. it's suspicious behavior but Elliot decides to just tell Diona where Heurich is.

[3] Return to Diona.

Diona will get really mad and Elliot tries to calm her down. He offers to go with her to talk to Heurich since he's less likely to run off if Elliot's there to mediate.

They barely just miss him. Elliot suggests they enlist the help of the other villagers to stop Heurich from leaving once he returns.

[4] Talk to the villagers.

When talking to the villagers, you must use the path within the village instead of fast travel, else, when approaching the second gatekeeper, a cutscene will show Heurich whichever other entrance/exit.

Head to the western entrance and talk to the Gatekeeper there. He confirms that Heurich has been going back and forth lately. Rather than adventuring, he seems to be picking herbs. He also seems to be spending a lot of time with Baikan's daughter.

Head to the northern entrance and talk to the Gatekeeper there. He will agree to Diona's request.

[5] Travel outside of the village and back.

Fast travel anywhere on the map and then enter back into Littlehope. This time when Heurich tries to leave, he will be stopped by both gatekeepers.

[6] Look for Heurich.

If you talk to the villagers, they will all say that Heurich seemed to have headed north, to the abandoned mansion. Head over there.

They apologize to each other but in the middle of the conversation, Heurich hands over cookies to Diona. Seems like he had been going out to gather ingredients to make a sweet but healthy treat for her so that they could make up, but going out actually made all their fighting worse.

You'll gain the Gather Ring after the cut scene.
