How to Progress Initiation 8

• Go into the city and collect echoes

After Initiation 7 is complete, go from underground into the city. There's an echo nearby, so collect it to obtain information about Thomas.

• Go to room 665 of the hotel

Go to Zane's room "665" at the Oceanview Hotel to obtain information about the murder scene. You can reach it by taking the elevator on the first floor of the hotel.

• Activate the projector and touch the screen

There's a projector in room 665, so activate it. Then approach the screen and touch it to start a movie. This reveals that Poet's Cinema is the next murder scene.

• Head to Poet's Cinema

Poet's Cinema is located in the lower right of the map. There are no particular puzzle elements, so just proceed along the path and you'll arrive.

• Present the movie ticket and enter

The entrance to Poet's Cinema is closed. Give the item "movie ticket" at the counter to open it and enter.

• Obtain the Plot "The Cult of the Word" on the second floor

After entering Poet's Cinema, collect the map posted on the walls of the break room on the right and near the counter, then climb the stairs to the second floor. Collect the echo as you look down from the second floor to the first floor to obtain the Plot "The Cult of the Word".

• Change to "The Cult of the Word" at the counter in the back on the first floor

After obtaining the Plot "The Cult of the Word", go down to the first floor and enter the room in the back of the counter. Then change to "The Cult of the Word" and an echo will appear.

• Obtain the Plot "New York's Finest"

When you change to the Plot "The Cult of the Word", an echo appears in the room at the back of the counter. Collect it to obtain the Plot "New York's Finest".

• Switch to "New York's Finest" and proceed

Switch to the Plot "New York's Finest" in the lobby to be able to enter the Theater Hall. After the lobby, explore the Theater Hall.

• Switch to "New York's Finest"

Switch to the Plot "New York's Finest" in the Theater Hall as well. When you switch, you'll be able to proceed from a room above the Theater Hall to just before the projection room.

• Examine the cop's badge

When you climb the stairs from the Theater Hall leading to the projection room, a cop's badge is lying there. After examining it, you'll need to explore to find a way to enter the projection room.

• Change to "The Cult of the Word" and obtain the plot

Return to the room above the Theater Hall where you descended the stairs, then change the Plot to "The Cult of the Word". An echo will appear, so collect it to obtain the Plot "Clip of the Lost Film". Also, take the light in the room as it will be useful later.

• Change to "Clip of the Lost Film" and engage in combat

Switch to the Plot "Clip of the Lost Film" in the Theater Hall. Several enemies will appear, so defeat them.

• Transfer the light from the room to the screen

After defeating the enemies, obtain the light from the room above the Theater Hall. Transfer the light you obtained to the screen to open a path from the Theater Hall to the alley.

• Exit the Theater Hall to the alley

After transferring the light to the screen, a path appears in the middle of the Theater Hall leading to the alley, so exit to the alley. First, go to the break room on the right in the alley to save or organize items.

• Switch to "The Cult of the Word"

Switch to the Plot "The Cult of the Word" in the alley, and you'll learn that someone has fallen to their death from the rooftop. Next, search for a way to reach the rooftop.

• Switch to "New York's Finest"

The path leading to the rooftop opens when you switch to the Plot "New York's Finest". After changing to "New York's Finest", a patrol car will appear.

• Use the patrol car's light to pass through the wall

Switch to "New York's Finest" and obtain the light from the patrol car that appears. Next, enter the indentation in the parking space in front of the break room. Once inside the indentation, aim the patrol car's light from the screen door, and stairs leading to the rooftop will appear.

• Enter the room where Tim is from the rooftop

Tim is on the rooftop. Use the yellow tape on the ground as a landmark and crouch under the chain-link passage to enter the room where Tim is. In Tim's room, you'll obtain several items and an additional map that provides more detailed map information.

• Descend the Ladder from the rooftop

After obtaining Tim's map, head to the Ladder at the back of the rooftop. Descending the Ladder takes you to a place where you can overlook the fall scene.

• Change to "The Cult of the Word" and collect the plot

Change the Plot to "The Cult of the Word" at the place where you descended the Ladder. An echo will appear, so collect it to obtain the Plot "The Grandmaster".

• Change to "The Grandmaster" at the theater

After obtaining the Plot "The Grandmaster", return to the Theater Hall. Switch to "The Grandmaster" in the Theater Hall and a door will appear on the screen.

• Proceed through the door on the screen

After changing to "The Grandmaster", head to the door that appears on the screen. The path beyond the door leads to the projection room.

• Keep searching for doors and proceed

In the gray space, you'll repeat similar scenes several times before proceeding further. Keep searching for doors and proceed, then find Alex Casey.

• Obtain the knife and proceed

At the end of the loop, there's a man wearing a deer mask. Take the knife behind the man and try to stab him, at which point the man disappears and a path forward opens.

• Return from the dead end and proceed under the shelf

Proceed forward while collecting echoes along the way until you reach a dead end. Exit the room and enter a room with a shelf filled with film. Crouch and proceed from the tilted shelf at the back to find a hanging corpse.

• Take the deer mask

As you crouch and proceed past the tilted shelf, you'll find a hanging corpse. Take the deer mask attached to the corpse and a movie will play, completing Initiation 8 "Zane's Film".
