How to Save in Alan Wake 2
You Can Save in the Break Room
Save is available in the Break Room. There is a Quick Save that doesn't use save slots and a Manual Save where you select a save slot. If you want to keep save data for each chapter, be sure to do a manual save.
Some Chapters don't have Break Rooms
In some chapters, there is no Break Room, so manual saving is not possible. You can save when the story progresses or when you collect items, but saving at arbitrary points is impossible.
When You Can Save
When You Reach the Break Room
You can save your game upon reaching a Break Room. If you'd rather keep two separate save files, select manual save at the Break Room to split your save into a second slot.
When the Story Progresses
The game automatically saves when the story progresses. If you don't care about separating save data, you can rely on autosave when the story progresses without any issues.
When You Obtain Collectibles
The game automatically saves when you obtain collectibles. Even if the game ends before you reach the Break Room, you can resume from where you left off after obtaining a collectible.
