The Saito Brothers Walkthrough | Ghost of Yotei

There’s an odachi master who faced the Saito brothers in Horosaru Falls. He might know where I can find the Spider and the Dragon.

Get the Revenge Card for The Saito Brothers by collecting enough clues during The Yotei Six Main Quest.

1 Find Master Yoshida's Dojo near the Horosaru Falls

・After reaching the Dojo, head to the bridge to see Master Yoshida talking to a Matsumae samurai.

・You need to gain his trust before he shares his motives in hunting The Saito Brothers.


The Way of the Odachi


2 Follow Master Yoshida

・Pick up the large weapon and follow him to the training grounds.

・Learn the ways of using Odachi by training with Master Yoshida.

3 Defeat Saito's Forces

・The training will be stopped by the news of some Matsumae scouts. The Dragon and The Spider's men have camped up the ridge.

・Defeat the incoming Saito Outlaws.

・Switch between your weapons depending on the enemy. Katana is great for enemies with the same size, and Odachi is ideal for larger ones.

4 Climb to the Top

・Head to the enemy camp with Master Yoshida.

・Defeat more Saito Outlaws.

・You'll also encounter a Bo-Hiya Gunner here. Avoid their fire bombs while getting close enough to eliminate him.

・For the next wave of enemies, Master Yoshida suggests that this is a great time for your training.

・Block, knock back, and attack your enemies!

・Continue climbing up before being greeted by Saito's forces again in Saru Plains. Quickly close the distance as many of them are Gunners.

・After the fight, Master Yoshida will talk about the reason why The Saito Brothers are after him.

・The last lead he got was that they were trading with the Russians in the north.

・Once the conversation ends, you'll unlock the Odachi.

Optional: Continue mastering the Odachi by taking The Path of the Odachi Sensei Tale.

NOTE: To progress with the next part of this Main Quest, make sure you've finished hunting The Oni and The Kitsune.


Ghosts of the Past


5 Return to Your Home in the Yotei Grasslands

・Three of the Yotei Six are dead. Go back Home and plan your next move.

・Talk to Jubei at your parents' grave.

6 Follow Jubei

・Walk with Jubei and talk about what really happened that night you got separated.

・Show Jubei the Ginkgo Tree Branch.

・Head inside the house and examine Yone's zeni hajiki board. You can play with Jubei afterward.

・Oyuki and Jubei meet. He won't be delighted about knowing her real identity.

・This will be the start of Chapter 2: The Onryo.

7 Meet Jubei and Oyuki at the Oshima Coast Gatehouse

・Oyuki will help you open the gates. She hasn't seen Jubei yet.

・The Matsumae Samurai are already being gunned down by the Saito Brothers when you arrive.


The Storm Breaks


8 Find Jubei

・Follow the trail of bodies they left.

・Go to the burned village and talk to Jubei there.

9 Ride to Oshima Coast

・Travel with Oyuki and Jubei to the Oshima Coast.

・Jubei will also call some Matsumae Samurai to join you.

10 Defeat Saito's Forces

・Charge and defeat the enemies!

11 Regroup with Your Allies

・Climb up the hill to regroup.

・There are plenty of Gunners here. Use the boxes as cover.

12 Survey the Battle

・Once you reach the hill, open your Spyglass to take a better look at the battlefield.

・Inspect the gate, the corpses, and the enemy soldiers.

13 Enter the Gatehouse

・Wait until night before reaching the gate.

・Slide down and eliminate enemies. Your ally can assassinate those who pulse white.

・Squeeze through the opening and there will be a cutscene where the Saito Outlaws are talking to the hostages.

・Jubei will tell you his plan and instruct you to use the Tanegashima.

・Climb to a higher area and open your Spyglass.

14 Shoot the Gunpowder

・Test out your new ranged weapon.

15 Defeat Saito's Forces

・Eliminate the remaining enemies!

16 Escape the Fort

・After meeting Kiku, escape the fort.

・The group will part ways for now.

・Survey the Oshima Coast with Oyuki. Interact with the Matsumae Castle and Benten Port.

Optional: Before leaving, Oyuki advises you to visit Matchlock Murata for a pistol (Tanzutsu Ranged Weapon). Head to the Karatsu River and take the Guns and Consequences Sensei Tale.

17 Meet the Matsumae Soldier at the Gate in Benten Port

・While Oyuki is gathering information, check on Jubei.

・Go to Port Town and talk to the Matsumae Soldier. He will escort you to Jubei.


Echoes of the Storm


18 Follow the Matsumae Soldier

・Go to the Matsumae Residences with the Soldier.

19 Speak with Jubei

・Head inside and talk to Jubei. He's with Kiku.

20. Examine the Flowers

・Jubei has to leave for a bit. Help Kiku with choosing a flower.

21 Place Flowers in the Vase with Kiku

・Interact with the vase again once you've collected the flowers.

22 Follow Kiku

・Meet Kiku's horse named Aguri.

・Check the commotion in the town. The Settlers are begging for some medicine.

・Follow Kiku to the armory.

・Survey the area first and Kiku will distract the soldiers.

23 Find a Way Over the Gate

・Climb and pull Kiku up.

24 Traverse the Outside Walls of the Castle

・Find another way around. Squeeze through a gap and keep crossing until you see an unlocked door.

・Regroup with Kiku inside.

25 Leave the Armory

・Grab some medicine and leave.

・You'll be caught by some guards outside but they will let you go.

・Another Matsumae Soldier will escort you to the keep.

26 Speak with Jubei in the Map Room

・Head inside to talk to Commander Wada and Jubei. They got a lead on The Dragon.

27 Follow Jubei to the Lighthouse

・You can find the Hakodate Lighthouse on the other side of the harbor.

・Jubei will speak to his men about the plan.

28 Follow Jubei

・Climb the rocks to find a good vantage point.

・Open your Spyglass and survey the area. Inspect the warship and The Dragon.

29 Defeat Saito's Soldiers

・Jubei will give the signal! Slide down and help them in killing the enemies.

・As you approach the gate, there will be more gunners.

30 Find the Dragon in the Lighthouse

・When you open the gate, The Dragon will immediately fire at you. Dash to avoid his attack.

31. Pursue the Dragon in the Lighthouse

・Go inside the lighthouse and chase The Dragon.

・Keep climbing the ladders but he will be able to escape.

・The plan failed. Talk to Jubei at the Hakodate Shore about your next steps.


To Catch a Spider


32. Meet Oyuki and Jubei at His Home

・Return to the Matsumae Residences and talk to the group.

33 Meet Oyuki Near Lord Tamura's Estate

・Speak with Oyuki in the forest outside the estate when you're ready to look for The Spider.

34 Follow Oyuki

・Ride your horse and travel with Oyuki.

・Kiku was able to sneak out of their house! She wants to guide you on how to break in to the estate.

35 Follow Kiku

・Walk with Kiku through the secret path.

・Open your Spyglass to survey Lord Tamura's Estate. Inspect the gardens, main house, guesthouses, and servants' quarters.

36 Examine the Hidden Door

・The secret door is locked. Kiku will release the switch from the other side.

37 Enter Lord Tamura's Estate

・Hide in the tall grass and assassinate the enemies.

38 Reach the Garden

・Make use of the Guiding Wind and Listening Technique if you need help in finding the way or spotting nearby enemies!

39 Reach Guesthouses

・Continue pressing forward and eliminating enemies.

40 Continue to Guesthouses

・Keep fighting until you see the locked main gate.

41 Boost Oyuki

・Climb the ledge by the shrine and give Oyuki a boost.

42 Enter Guesthouse

・Go inside the Guesthouse to face The Spider.

43 Fight The Spider

・When the Boss Fight for The Spider starts, you will unlock the Ghost Stance. This ability shares the same kill streak with the Onryo's Howl. Push your luck to save for Ghost Stance.

・Focus on defeating The Spider's men first before battling him.

・Take The Spider as a hostage. You'll be rewarded with an Upgraded Onryo Armor and Wrath of the Onryo Trophy.

44. Meet with Jubei and Oyuki

・Go back to the Matsumae Residences and plan the next move.

・Jubei and Oyuki share their worries about you but you will not budge.

45 Follow Jubei

・Walk with Jubei to meet The Spider.

・After your conversation, follow Jubei again to speak with Kiku. Her father finally agrees to train her.

46 Meet Jubei and Kiku in Orito Forest

・Talk to Jubei and help with Kiku's training.

47 Follow Jubei

・Keep climbing until you see Oyuki.

48 Follow Oyuki

・Walk with the group and listen to their conversation.

・Open the Spyglass and examine the Matsumae Castle, Oiso Fishing Village, and the Lighthouse.

・Create a Map by following the broken lines.

49 Search the Forest for Mushrooms

・Find some Mushrooms around the area.

50 Reach the Temple

・Climb the stairs.

51 Follow the Wolf

・Keep walking until you need to pull the loose boards.

52 Return to Jubei and Oyuki

・Cross the Otsuki River to regroup.

53 Follow Jubei

・Continue climbing, the Seianji Temple is at the top of the mountain.

・The Monk will welcome you. Go to the camp they prepared at the edge of the grounds.

・Build a fire and cook dinner.

・Compose a song and spend a lovely night with the group.


The Reckoning


54. Meet Jubei at Matsumae Castle

・It's time to execute the plan! Head to the Castle once you're prepared.

55 Escort the Spider to the Beach

・Stage The Spider's execution. Walk with him and Jubei to the Beach.

・When everything is in position, wait for The Dragon to show up.

・Lord Saito's ship is also here. They will start attacking the Castle.

56 Fight The Dragon

・Jubei will ask you to let it go and focus on saving Kiku, but you'll push through and fight.

・The Spider will assist his brother in this fight. Watch out for his red attacks. He will shoot you from afar.

・Wait for the right chance to strike The Dragon. Also, keep in mind that he can switch his weapons and can deal some ranged attacks.

57 Defeat Saito's Forces in the Courtyard

・Once you kill The Dragon, you'll get The Dragon Trophy.

・The Spider will run away. Try to find him while defeating some Outlaws.

58 Open the Courtyard Gate

・Give up on pursuing The Spider and help with the fight.

59 Fight to the Castle to Save Your Family

・Find Jubei and Oyuki.

・There will be a cutscene when you open the castle's gate.

60 Return to the Temple

・Hurry back to the temple and look for Jubei, Oyuki, and Kiku.

61 Escape Oshima Coast

・Bring Kiku to a safe place.

62 Return Home

・Enter your Home and join Kiku at the graves.

Try to comfort the angered Kiku to end this Quest.
