Lord Saito Walkthrough | Ghost of Yotei

Saito has a training fortress in the marshlands, and I finally have his scent.

Saito (Shogun of the North) is a Revenge Main Quest. Atsu got a lead on him after she learned about the training fortress in the Marshlands.

1 Infiltrate Saito's Training Fortress

・The Fortress is found at the Tomamu Marshlands. This location is quite far from the previous Quests. Take your time exploring and look out for any Tales or Collectibles!

・When you reach the Clan Saito Training Fortress' entrance, a Saito Outlaw will ask for a password ("A tiger forced up the mountain still bears teeth and will return twice as strong"). It's a good thing that Atsu read it from the enemy's corpse during The Way of Dual Katana.

・Although Atsu was let inside, there will be a Standoff Duel with the guard since he recognized who she is. Unlike the earlier ones, from here on, you'll need to wait for the real attack because enemies can now use feints to trick you.

2 Search the Fortress for Saito

・To survive in the enemy base, Atsu plans on moving quietly to ambush Saito. Hide in tall grass or corners to stay out of their sight!

・Pick up any coins or resources along the way and assassinate any unaware Saito Outlaws you see.

・Squeeze through the gate opening and follow the left path until Atsu sees Lord Saito from afar.

3 Reach the Gap in the Garden Fence

・After the cutscene, open your Spyglass and plan your route. Inspect the white dot on the gate to complete this step.

・Repeat your steps earlier, just walk through the tall grass and stealthily kill enemies. Avoid getting in their line of sight!

・Use the Guiding Wind if you ever get lost. Your goal is to find the gap in the southeast fence and pass through it.

4 Keep Searching for Saito in the Fortress

・Jump and reach the other side using the climbing holds on the cliff.

・You'll also need your Grappling Hook to cross over to the next area. Then, find another fence that you can squeeze through.

5 Find a Way Past Saito's Army

・There are more Saito Outlaws in this location, but you're probably getting the hang of sneaking around now!

・You don't need to kill all of these training outlaws. After climbing the stairs, open the nearby chest, and head right to enter the fence with a gap.

6 Reach the Top of the Keep

・Atsu's outside again, keep climbing the wall and crossing over using the Grappling Hook. You'll see a small opening at the upper floor that you can pass through.

7 Ambush Saito

・You finally caught up with your target. He's wide open! Or.. so you thought. Saito was able to defend himself and your assassination failed.

・He recognizes who you are and invites you outside for a duel.

8 Defeat Lord Saito

・It's time for a Boss Fight with Lord Saito, the leader of the Yotei Six!

・Saito uses a Spear, use your Dual Katana to counter this.

・Watch out for the Blue Glint attacks. You can parry them before it makes an impact.

・In the middle of your fight, there will be a surprise attack from the Clan Matsumae. They are launching burning arrows.

・Saito notices your technique and learns that you learned it from Hanbei.

・Your fight will be cut short when the Clan Matsumae launches more explosives in your way.

・Unfortunately, Saito was able to run away but you're saved by Hanbei. He apologizes because he thought the Matsumae would help you in the fight.

・Hanbei pleads for you to stop chasing death. You can choose "Death is all I know" or "I made a promise to my family". Any choice is fine and it will mark the end of this Main Quest.
