Town Hall Beaver Text
March 24, 1975, holds a special place in Canadian history. On this day the beaver officially gnawed its way into the ranks of national symbols. Yes, the same buck-toothed critter that turns trees into toothpicks. Talk about punching above your weight in the animal kingdom.
The idea started floating around in 1974, but things got serious when a young MP took the cause public during a radio interview. Public enthusiasm was so high that even the maple leaf started blushing.
The result? Bill C-373 zipped through the Senate and received royal assent faster than one could say "constitutional monarchy". And just like that, the beaver was immortalized as Canada's blue-collar icon. Long live the beaver!
The first Town Hall of Castor Woods was built between 1364-1437. Despite numerous rebuilds that shaped its final form, the city has been governed from this same building for the past 600 years.
