How to Beat the Game in Under 4 Hours in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse
Dialog Skipper is the trophy that stops most players from getting the Platinum. You have to finish the game in less than 4 hours, and a normal story run takes around 12 to 14 hours. You need a plan, and we'll guide you to get this!
| Speedrun Summary | |
|---|---|
| Trophy | Dialog Skipper (Gold on PS5) |
| Requirement | Finish the game in less than 4 hours |
| Normal Story Run | 12 to 14 hours |
| Full 100% Run | 19 to 22 hours |
| Best Time to Attempt | Second Playthrough |
[1] Do This Run Last.
Don't try this on your first playthrough. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse has no New Game Plus, so a speedrun means starting a fresh save.
Finish everything else first. By then, you know the map, the bosses, and where the good weapons are, and that matters more than anything else on this list.
[2] Prepare Before You Start.
Take a few notes from your previous run. Choose the best weapon in each area and learn the patterns before facing the bosses.
[3] Skip Every Cutscene and Line of Dialogue.
The trophy's name says it all. Skip every conversation, cutscene, and text box you can to save time.
[4] Make Use of Fast Travel.
Walking everywhere will take long. You have two ways to get around:
- Mirror Fast Travel: stand in front of an activated mirror and crouch. Rose gets pulled into a hub where you pick any mirror you've found.
- The Ferryman: unlock a region's dock, then talk to him to cross the water and jump between hubs.
Activate every mirror you pass on the way to make sure you have more places to warp back to.
[5] Exclude Everything Optional.
Nothing in the game is permanently missable. You can ignore all collectibles for this run.
[6] Follow the Main Story Route.
Keep sticking to the required path:
- Defeat the bosses in each area to get the keys.
- Collect all three keys, then return to the Catacombs Gate.
- Complete the "Stop the Resurrection" objective and enter Dracula's Castle.
- Make your way through the Clock Tower toward the Throne Room.
- Defeat both of Dracula's forms.
[7] Target for the Normal Ending.
Both the bad ending and the true ending take longer, so go for the normal ending. Listen when your allies warn you to turn back near the Clock Tower.
