Death Summary

Death is often expected to be one of the toughest fights in every Castlevania entry, and Belmont's Curse keeps that tradition alive. You encounter Death quite early in the game but only as a boss meant to kick your butt; the real fight happens much later in the story.

Some of Death's attacks are reused patterns from previous games, but he also brings new tricks to punish careless mistakes.

Death Attack Patterns

Attack	Description
Horizontal Slash	A low horizontal slash with a big windup.
Shatter	A shattering magical attack with his fist.
Soul Barrage	Projectiles summoned and aimed at the target.
Mega Soul Barrage	A stronger version of Soul Barrage.
Teleport Slash	A quick scythe slash, usually as a follow-up attack.
Mega Slash	A series of massive slashes across the screen.
Scythe Throw	A spinning forward throw of his powerful scythe.
Flying Scythe	Smaller scythe slowly flying toward the target.

[1] Deal Damage During His Windups.

A lot of Death's moves have long animations, so take advantage of these small windows to deal damage while avoiding attacks. Dodge towards him and deal damage from behind, or focus on parrying his attacks until he is vulnerable.

[2] Pay Attention to the Projectiles.

Death would overwhelm you with attacks while projectiles are coming at you, so stay focused to avoid receiving damage. Be patient and play defensive until the coast is clear before committing fully.
