Castlevania puts the 'vania' in Metroidvania
The Metroidvania genre would not exist without the original Castlevania. The new title, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, is on the same playing field. It has similar elements in its reimagined take, with the iconic world of the franchise as its foundation.
What to expect:
A map with many explorable paths and branches
Explore the map using different abilities. This includes the Arcane Whip that you get after defeating the first boss, The Fallen.
Interactive Map
Checkpoints for healing and saving (enemies respawn upon use)
Checkpoints are called the Mirror of Life. By default, if you die from the boss fight, you will respawn at the last mirror you interacted with. However, you can still choose to respawn at the Boss door by customizing your Gameplay Setting.
Boss fights that challenge your movement
Use the right dodge and attack at the right time. Make sure to study the attack patterns of the boss to help you defeat them.
Abilities and upgrades that provide more traversal options
As you progress, you will receive certain abilities to help you explore the map. This includes the Arcane Whip, which you can use to grapple anchors on the map. You can also use it to attack enemies too.
