S is the highest tier, and D is the lowest.
If you can beat an S-rank boss, you can likely defeat them all.
Strategy
If the hornets are attacking you, you can jump onto the water to remove them and climb back up to continue your attack.
When the hornets are around him you can use smoke grenades, stun grenades or the M37 Shotgun to get the hornets away from him.
You can shoot at the hornets that are carrying grenade as long as the hornet carrying it is still near him, and the grenade will fall right next to him. He'll be disappointed with you, but it is what it is.
Quirky Strategy
Equip the nest and use it when The Pain attacks you with his hornets. In this way, your nest will suck his hornets instead of attacking you.
Notes
When the pain yells "There he is" or "Grenade" he knows your location.
When the pain yells, "Go get him" and other phrases, that means he is about to attack you.
