What Is a Cipher in Mistfall Hunter?

Cipher gets used as a catch-all term for a few different systems in Mistfall Hunter, which confuses a lot of players. Some are reward scrolls you hand off to an NPC at camp. Others are tied to the limited-time Gylden Rush event. And a few, like the Dried Flower Knot, are cipher keys that unlock specific content instead of paying out a random reward.

How to Decipher (Materials & Steps)

Deciphering doesn't open up until Level 5. If you've already got a cipher and no camp NPC will take it, that's expected at low levels rather than a bug. Here's a full step-by-step on how to use these scrolls:

Step 1: Reach Level 5.
Step 2: Claim your cipher (from mail) or extract successfully with one found during an expedition.
Step 3: Return to Camp.
Step 4: Read the cipher's item description for a clue pointing to its matching NPC.
Step 5: Speak to that NPC and select Decipher.
