Sorcerer Best Builds

Introduction

Introduction

Sorcerers are for Mistfall Hunter Players who like to play high risk, high reward. Their HP Bulk is low, making them one of the squishiest classes in the game, but a good offense is a good defense, and the Sorcerer has a high damage output and great crowd control.

Whether you like to singe and freeze enemies with the Elemental Spells or trip them over with the Stardust Spells, the Sorcerer has high versatility and is a dangerous foe to meet in combat.

The Sorcerer is best used when investing in one of the two Magic Trees; as such, this guide will list the best build for either tree to maximize their potential.

Skill List and Talent Priority

Sorcerer Skills

Unlike other classes where skills are tied to the player's weapon, the Sorcerer instead has three different magic trees: Elemental, Stardust, and Generalist, the latter of which can be used with any of the former two.

Elemental Magic is mostly damage-dealing skills which can be chanted quickly, while Stardust Magic controls the field better and can recover energy faster. Generalist Magic are utility spells that can protect you and your allies.

Talents are upgrades that enhance your class's skills and combat abilities. As you level up, you earn Talent Points to customize your playstyle with upgrades that affect your overall performance or specific weapon mechanics.

Talents can include branching paths and independent upgrades. Branching paths require unlocking talents in sequence and eventually force you to choose between mutually exclusive upgrades, while independent talent groups allow you to freely invest Talent Points without additional prerequisites.

SkillDescription
Elemental AffinityWhen Elemental Magic hits an enemy, it adds 1 stack of Elemental Mark. When an enemy's Elemental Mark reaches 2 stacks, detonate all Elemental Marks on them, dealing Magic Damage.
Fire BoltHold to chant, then launch a fire bolt toward the target direction. The fire bolt explodes upon contact with a target or the ground, dealing Magic Damage and short-term burn damage.

If released before chanting completes, it recovers Energy and launches a weaker fire bolt toward the target direction, dealing reduced Magic Damage. Fire Bolt has a relatively short maximum range.
FlamebladeForm a Flameblade in hand to attack forward, dealing Magic Damage to enemies within range and inflicting short-term burn damage over time.
Deep FreezeUnleash a wave of frost in a cone in front of you, dealing Magic Damage to enemies hit and reducing their Movement Speed for a period of time.
Crystal IceboltSummon 2 Crystal Icebolts to follow you for a period of time. While active, each time you are attacked by an enemy, one icebolt will automatically launch toward the assailant to deal Magic Damage. Once the follow duration ends, any remaining icebolts will automatically fire forward.
ThunderstrikeHold to chant, then summon lightning at the target location, dealing Magic Damage. If released before chanting completes, it recovers Energy and summons lightning with a short delay at the target location, dealing reduced Magic Damage.
Thunderstorm SigilHold to chant, then summon a Thunderstorm Sigil at the target location, triggering a thunderstorm after a short delay, dealing Magic Damage and stunning enemies.
Thunder PierceHold to chant, then throw a thunder spear toward the target direction, dealing Magic Damage to enemies hit.

Thunder Pierce has a very long maximum range. If it fails to hit any enemy, it creates an electric field at its destination, dealing continuous Magic Damage to all nearby enemies and reducing their Movement Speed for a period of time. This Slow effect can stack up to 5 times.

Sorcerer Talents

Sorcerer Talents

Supreme Arcana Talent Tree has two paths depending on your chosen Magic Tree. Chant Guard and its progression focus on Stardust Magic while Masterful Technique and its progression focus on Elemental Magic. Choosing one will lock you out of the other. The Talent Tree is unlocked at Level 2.

ProgressionEffect
Path: Stardust
Chant Guard
↓
Increases Chanting Speed for Stardust spells. When chanting Stardust spells, the first attack received will not interrupt chanting (Stardust Torrent's casting phase also benefits from this effect). This effect has a cooldown.
Stardust Arcana
↓
Hold the assigned button to skip the chanting phase while consuming more Energy. This effect has a cooldown.
Stardust ReversalWhile Stardust Arcana is on cooldown, each skill cast reduces its remaining cooldown by a certain amount.
Path: Elemental
Masterful Technique
↓
Increase Movement Speed after casting an Elemental Magic.
Elemental Arcana
↓
Elemental reactions are enhanced to trigger additional effects based on the element type that detonates the Elemental Mark.

Thunder: Fires a lightning chain at the nearest enemy, bouncing multiple times and dealing Magic Damage to enemies.

Fire: Continuously deals Magic Damage to enemies for a period of time.

Ice: Inflicts Frozen on enemies for a period of time.

Fire Bolt and Thunderstrike do not apply Elemental Marks to enemies when chanting is incomplete.
Elemental SurgeAfter triggering Elemental Arcana, gain Surge for a period of time. While Surge is active, casting elemental spells consumes Surge. If a spell that consumes Surge hits an enemy, it immediately triggers Elemental Arcana. This effect has a cooldown.

Recommended Builds

Recommended Builds

When it comes to builds, the Sorcerer really only has two paths to take: Elemental and Stardust. Either of those two magical trees is the Sorcerer's main source of damage and requires heavy investment into one of the two, while the Generalist Tree can be mixed into either build.

Elemental Build

Overview

The Elemental Build focuses on damage dealing from close range. The best optimal build for an Elemental Sorcerer is one that mixes the elements rather than sticking to one. While the Sorcerer is a ranged class, this playstyle switches that up and lets any spellcaster go close enough to drop enemies' HP to zero. It is perfect for players who want to play their fantasies as a dangerous mage wielding the elements.

Recommended Skills

Recommended Skills for Elemental Build
Elemental Affinity
Fire Bolt
Deep Freeze
Thunderstorm Sigil
  • Elemental Affinity is the core skill of any Elemental Sorcerer. It allows even the weaker elemental spells to deal more damage when used in combination with other elemental spells.
  • Fire Bolt is the go-to fire spell. While lacking in range, its quick casting time and damage are too essential to remove.
  • Deep Freeze helps keep enemies away since this build relies on close combat.
  • Thunderstorm Sigil is the area-of-effect skill of this build. It also stuns enemies to further keep them away from you.

Recommended Talent Progression

PointTalentReason
1Masterful TechniqueMakes you move faster after casting an elemental spell. This is the first skill for the Elemental Path in Supreme Arcana. Choose it to take unlock the rest of the skills.
2Elemental ArcanaAllows other effects to be triggered when they are used to detonate Elemental Mark. Use it to combo one element with another.
3Elemental SurgeAllows you to trigger another Elemental Arcana effect after triggering one already.
4Rapid FlamestrikeFire Bolt's dedicated Talent. Grants True Damage to defeat enemies much easier.
5Deep Frost EmbraceDeep Freeze's dedicated Talent. Reduces the Energy Cost of the spell, allowing you to have energy to either follow-up with another spell or freeze them with Elemental Arcana.
6Lightning BreathThunderstorm Sigil's dedicated Talent. Reduces the cooldown so you can use the spell again sooner.
7Vitality ChantDodging no longer interrupts chanting. Since this build is focused on close combat, dodging will be necessary.
8EtherealJumping no longer interrupts chanting. Since Vitality Chant has a cooldown, using this Talent would be good to fall back on jump dodging.

Playstyle

The Elemental Sorcerer build revolves around the core talent of the build, Elemental Arcana. The playstyle is focused on setting up with one element and then following it up with another to either deal a lot of damage at once or to stall enemies.

Thunderstorm Sigil is a good way to set up a combo, as it can attack in an area from afar and stun enemies it catches and even groups them. Follow up with Deep Freeze to activate Elemental Arcana's Ice effect, which will freeze the enemies instead of slowing them down, though this will require you to get as close as possible. If you have successfully triggered the Ice effect, you will gain Surge from Elemental Surge. Finish with a fully chanted Fire Bolt to deal both true damage and trigger the Fire Effect thanks to Surge to deal more damage over time with both its effect and Talent, Rapid Flamestrike.

Deep Freeze is also a good way to open up combos, especially when enemies get too close. Follow up with Thunderstorm Sigil or with Fire Bolt against singular enemies and trigger its Fire effect. Either way, use the remaining elemental skill you have in order to deal a lot of damage in one go with their respective effects.

Deep Freeze and Thunderstorm Sigil can be used again in one combo thanks to their respective talents. Lightning Breath can reduce the cooldown depending on the enemies hit by the sigil, allowing you to follow up with another lightning attack after some time, while Deep Frost Embrace will guarantee you can use Deep Freeze again after some time. In any case, always remember to never use Fire Bolt first, as its Elemental Arcana effect is too valuable to not trigger.

Since this build requires you to get close, playing defensively is always important. Using a skill like Arcana Armor can help protect you if you have to get close, while Deep Freeze and Mistwalk can help you keep your distance for better positioning.

Stardust Build

Overview

A Stardust build is not as popular as an Elemental Build, but the build shines as a support class. With the core crowd control of the Sorcerer and with just as many trip-up spells, Stardust is a great playstyle for players who want to feel the satisfaction of disrupting enemies and going for the kill. It is also great for players in teams who want to let their friends do the fighting.

Recommended Skills

Recommended Skills for Stardust Build
Stardust Energy
Meteor Charm
Stardust Tempest
Gravitational Vortex
  • Stardust Energy not only keeps you away while chanting a spell, but also restores energy whenever a stardust spell hits, allowing you to cast spells in succession.
  • Stardust Tempest slows down enemies in an area. Good for setting up follow-up attacks.
  • Gravitational Vortex ensures that enemies are grouped. Using this skill after Stardust Tempest guarantees enemies are clumped together.
  • Meteor Charm is the main source of damage for a Stardust build. Casting it once all enemies are grouped deals a lot of damage, especially if it is followed up by another Meteor Charm.

Recommended Talent Progression

PointTalentReason
1Chant GuardChanting Speed of Stardust spell is increased and becomes uninterruptable from the first attack. This is the first skill for the Stardust Path in Supreme Arcana. Choose it to take unlock the rest of the skills.
2Stardust ArcanaAllows you to skip the chanting phase. This is especially effective with Meteor Charm to deal more damage.
3Stardust ReversalReduces to cooldown for Stardust Arcana when a Stardust spell is used.
4No EscapeIncreases the damage area of Meteor Charm.
5MemorizationIncreases the chanting speed of Gravitational Vortex.
6Storm ImpactReduces the didge distance of enemies when hit by Stardust Tempest. Good support skill for you and your teammates.
7Vitality ChantDodging no longer interrupts chanting. Take this so you can survive and attack afterwards.
8Flexible CastingIncreases movement speed while chanting. Great with Vitality Chant to play keep-away.

Playstyle

The Stardust Build is a good playstyle for those who want to play support and offense. The other two offensive skills provide great support to offensive players who need an opportunity to attack, while Meteor Charm can ensure the finishing blow.

Stardust Tempest can attack from afar and debuff the enemy with slow. With the enemy slowed, Gravitational Vortex can then bring enemies together, allowing your teammate to attack them in one focused area. Alternatively, you can finish off the enemy yourself with Meteor Charm and then use the spell again with Stardust Arcana. This can go on repeat if you use that spell rotation again and trigger Stardust Arcana again with the help of Stardust Reversal.

This build is best used from a range, and as such, keeping enemies away is a good way to stay alive. Forbidden Gate is great at this as enemies will be blocked from entering your range and be forced to deal with your tankier friends. Mistwalk also returns to this build as its intangibility allows you to reposition yourself.

Recommended Equipment Affixes

Both builds have the same recommended Affixes. Prioritize equipment that increase speed, damage, and make dodging better.

  • Eloquence
  • Fervor
  • Valor
  • Elusive

Stardust BuildPlayers who want to play supportHighTripping up enemies

Solo Player Tips

Solo Player

A damage-dealing Sorcerer is the best play solo since the class does not have a lot of survivability options. The Generalist Spell Tree becomes paramount for solo play as it offers the most survivability skills like Arcane Armor and Cryptic Ward. The Elemental build is best for solo play, but it is still best to keep some distance to avoid getting ganged up by multiple enemies.

Trio Player Tips

Trio Player Tips

Sorcerer is generally a very versatile class, so playing either as a damage dealer or support is a great option. You can play as a backline attacker with a damage build or debuff enemies with a support build. Just be sure to play with teammates who can keep you alive and can also deal damage. Forbidden Gate and Phantom Step are good skills to use in a trio as they provide buffs to teammates.

Best Class Synergies

Sorcerers work best with classes that can provide survivability and pressure to enemies. Withered Knight and Mercenary come to mind when it comes to both of those things. Withered Knight is a tanky class, making it a perfect frontliner while you play as a backliner either as support or damage. Mercenary is the same but with more damage. Seer comes to mind when it comes to survivability since its main role is healer. While having a second healer could make the team twice as squishy, a good defense can ensure both you and the Seer are safe from harm.
