Blackarrow Best Build Guide

Blackarrow Overview

Blackarrow Overview

The Blackarrow is a ranged class built around precision shooting, specialized arrows, and controlling engagements from a distance. Its talent paths allow you to specialize in different approaches to ranged combat, from powerful charged shots and direct damage to ailments, traps, and sustained pressure.

This guide covers the best Blackarrow builds, including their recommended skills, talent progressions, equipment, and playstyles. Choose the build that best matches how you want to approach combat, whether you prefer landing powerful shots from afar or controlling enemies with specialized arrows and debuffs.

Skill List & Talent Priority

Skill List & Talent Priority

Skills are active abilities tied to the Blackarrow's Bow. You can equip two weapon skills at a time, letting you choose between offensive attacks, crowd control, defensive tools, and utility depending on your build.

Arrows are another important part of the Blackarrow's combat system. You can equip three arrows at a time and switch between them during combat. Normal Arrows provide unlimited ammunition for sustained attacks, while specialized arrows have cooldowns and offer additional effects such as piercing, knockback, damage over time, debuffs, and traps.

Talents are passive upgrades that further specialize the Blackarrow's ranged combat. Talent trees can improve charged shots, rapid attacks, Archer's Arrows, Hunter's Arrows, stealth, traps, and other parts of the class's toolkit.

The builds in this guide combine specific skills, arrows, and talents to create distinct playstyles. Recommended talent progressions focus on choices that directly support each build's main gameplay loop, while general utility talents are presented separately as optional alternatives.

Talents can include branching paths and independent upgrades. Branching paths require unlocking talents in sequence and eventually force you to choose between mutually exclusive upgrades, while independent talent groups allow you to freely invest Talent Points without additional prerequisites.

Arrow Types

The Blackarrow attacks using Normal Arrows and Skill Arrows. Normal Arrows are your default attacks and can be fired without restriction, providing consistent damage between cooldowns. Skill Arrows are equipped before entering a hunt, and each grants unique offensive or utility effects. Most Skill Arrows consume Energy and become available again after their individual cooldowns, while a few consume no Energy and can be used freely. Choosing the right arrow for each situation is a core part of mastering the Blackarrow.

SkillDescription
Shooting
(Basic Skill)
Shooting Press to quickly shoot the currently loaded arrow and hold to charge the bow. Charging does not consume Energy and increases the arrow's Damage Multiplier, Impact, Effective Range, and Maximum Range. After fully drawing, you enter an Aiming state for a short time.

Archer's Arrows focus on direct damage and offensive pressure. They enhance your shots with effects such as piercing, chain lightning, knockback, and lingering damage, making them well suited for eliminating targets from a safe distance.

SkillDescription
Steel Arrow
Steel Arrow Fine steel arrows deal Physical Damage on hit and can pierce one unit.
Concussive Arrow
Concussive Arrow Storm-imbued rune arrowheads burst into air waves on hit, dealing Physical Damage to enemies within range and inflicting stagger. If fired at full draw, they will knock back enemies caught in the air waves.
Lightning Arrow
Lightning Arrow Arrows wrapped in lightning deal Physical Damage on hit and create a lightning chain that jumps between enemies.

Each enemy can only be hit by the lightning chain once, with each hit dealing less Physical Damage.

If Lightning Arrow hits the environment near enemies, it creates a lightning chain with a lower Damage Multiplier.
Splatter Arrow
Splatter Arrow The arrow shaft is coated in blood that splatters on hit, dealing Physical Damage to nearby enemies. The longer the bow is drawn, the larger the splatter area.

The Physical Damage from the splatter is lower than the damage from a direct hit.

Splatter Arrow has no cooldown, consumes no Energy, and can trigger all talent effects of Normal Arrow.
Bloodfly Arrow (Unlocks Lv. 8)
Bloodfly Arrow The arrowheads are coated with mysterious corrupted blood to attract blood flies. Bloodfly Arrows deal Physical Damage on hit.

The blood flies stay on the enemy for a period, continuously dealing Physical Damage, with a portion being True Damage.

If Bloodfly Arrow hits the environment near enemies, the blood flies will fly to the nearest target, dealing continuous Physical Damage with a reduced Damage Multiplier.

Bow Skills

The Blackarrow also has access to weapon skills that complement its arrows, providing burst damage, mobility, scouting, crowd control, and defensive tools.

SkillDescription
ScattershotScattershot Fires multiple arrows in a wide spread, making it effective at close range while knocking enemies back to create breathing room.
Rapid ArrowsRapid Arrows Enters Volley mode, allowing you to rapidly fire arrows without slowing your movement until the effect ends or you dodge.
Sky PiercerSky Piercer Fires a fully drawn piercing shot that excels at hitting multiple enemies lined up in its path.
Frostblight BombFrostlight Bomb Throws a bomb that freezes enemies after a short delay, creating opportunities to disengage or follow up with attacks.
Impact Grenade
(Unlocks Lv. 9)
Impact Grenade Throws a sticky grenade that can be detonated manually or automatically, knocking back nearby enemies and disrupting their positioning.
Shadow Step
(Unlocks Lv. 10)
Shadow Step Grants Stealth and can be chained multiple times, allowing you to reposition safely before quickly returning to combat with faster charged shots.
Predator's Senses
(Unlocks Lv. 7)
Predator's Senses Detects nearby enemies and leaves scent trails leading to the closest target, making it invaluable for scouting and tracking opponents.

Playstyle

The Archer build revolves around fully drawn arrows, precise attacks, and maintaining distance rather than relying on sustained close-range combat. Use Bloodfly Arrow to mark targets for increased follow-up damage, Concussive Arrow to create space, Lightning Arrow to pressure groups, and Steel Arrow to punish enemies lined up together. Managing your charge time and positioning is key to getting the most out of the build.

The Bloodfly Burst setup focuses on marking enemies with Bloodfly Arrow before following up with fully drawn attacks. Blood Infection increases the damage dealt to marked enemies based on their missing HP, making this setup particularly effective for finishing weakened targets. Dodge Power Shot also allows you to continue attacking immediately after repositioning.

The Concussive Control setup focuses on keeping enemies at a safe distance. Astound increases the knockback of fully drawn Concussive Arrows, while Powerful Scattershot can Stun enemies that are knocked into an obstruction. This setup is useful when you need to repeatedly disrupt enemies rather than simply maximize damage.

The Area Damage setup focuses on attacking multiple enemies at once. Lightning Spread increases the chaining range of fully drawn Lightning Arrows, while Sepsis improves Splatter Arrow's area damage. This setup is particularly effective when enemies are grouped together and can be pressured simultaneously.

The Piercing Archer setup specializes in hitting enemies positioned behind one another. Long Shot improves fully drawn Steel Arrows after they pierce a target, while Unstoppable Edge strengthens Sky Piercer by converting part of its Physical Damage into True Damage. This setup rewards careful positioning and lining up multiple targets.

Full Draw, Tactical Adjustments, and Colossal Power form the foundation of every Archer setup. They improve fully drawn damage, movement while shooting, and the time required to charge your shots. Measured Pace further helps sustain your attacks by recovering Energy when firing fully drawn Normal Arrows while carrying at least two Archer's Arrows, while Marksman makes fully drawn arrows easier to land on targets near your crosshairs.

Normal Arrows remain important throughout every Archer setup. They provide unlimited ammunition between Skill Arrow cooldowns and give you a reliable way to continue attacking while waiting for stronger arrows to become available. Fully drawn Normal Arrows are also important for taking advantage of Measured Pace and maintaining your Energy economy.

The Archer is strongest when it can dictate the distance of an engagement and find safe opportunities to charge its shots. Maintain your position, use Dodge Power Shot to reposition without completely sacrificing offensive pressure, and choose your specialized arrows according to the situation. The four setups shift the emphasis toward burst damage, crowd control, area damage, or piercing attacks, while the core Archer playstyle remains focused on precise ranged pressure.

Hunter Build

The Hunter build focuses on applying debuffs, damage-over-time effects, and traps to control enemies and maintain pressure from a distance. Rather than relying entirely on charged burst damage, Hunter's Arrows allow the Blackarrow to punish enemy movement, restrict their options, and create dangerous areas that enemies must avoid.

Recommended Arrows

Recommended Arrows
Barbed Arrow
Paralysis Arrow
Spore Arrow
  • Barbed Arrow punishes enemies who use Dodge and can create a trap when fired into terrain.
  • Paralysis Arrow creates a medicinal mist that applies Exhausted, providing an important debuff for controlling enemies.
  • Spore Arrow creates a persistent mushroom trap that continuously damages enemies who enter its area.

Featherlight Arrow is a strong alternative when you prefer a faster projectile with greater effective range.

Recommended Skills

Recommended Skills
Shadow Step
Impact Grenade
  • Shadow Step provides Stealth and allows you to reposition safely before returning to ranged combat.
  • Impact Grenade provides additional crowd control by knocking enemies back and disrupting enemy positioning.

Recommended Talent Progression

Use the final three points to specialize the build around your preferred Hunter playstyle.

Finishing Talents

Use the final three points to specialize the Hunter build.

PointTalentReason
6Dodge Rapid ShotAllows you to fire immediately after dodging while maintaining pressure during repositioning.
7NeurotoxinLeaves an aftereffect after Paralysis Arrow expires that reduces the enemy's Skill Cooldown Speed.
8LacerationStuns enemies affected by Barbed Arrow when they reach the maximum number of Dodge uses before its effect ends.

Recommended Equipment

Prioritize offensive stats that improve sustained ranged damage while maintaining enough survivability to keep enemies at a distance.

Recommended stats

  • Physical Damage
  • Strength
  • Critical Chance
  • Critical Damage

Alternative Talents

These talents provide additional options when adjusting your arrows or playstyle without changing the Hunter build's core progression.

TalentWhen to Consider
Rapid BarrageFor a more aggressive quick-shot playstyle that relies less on specialized arrows.
Pursuit MarkWhen you want Normal Arrows to provide additional movement control.
PursuerWhen additional Movement Speed after landing shots helps with repositioning or kiting.
Power InfusionWhen using Featherlight Arrow outside of the Damage Over Time setup.
ShockwaveWhen using Soundwave Arrow outside of the Hunter Utility setup.
Heightened SensesWhen using Predator's Senses outside of the Stealth Hunter setup.

Playstyle

The Hunter build revolves around debuffs, damage over time, and battlefield control rather than relying solely on burst damage. Use Barbed Arrow to punish enemy movement, Paralysis Arrow to apply Exhausted, and Spore Arrow to create areas of persistent damage. Combining these effects lets you pressure enemies while limiting their ability to move safely.

The Debuff Control setup focuses on keeping enemies affected by Hunter's status effects. Neurotoxin extends the usefulness of Paralysis Arrow by leaving an additional debuff after its initial effect ends, while Laceration gives Barbed Arrow an additional Stun when its Dodge condition is fulfilled. This setup is particularly useful against mobile enemies that rely on repeated Dodges.

The Damage Over Time setup places greater emphasis on Spore Arrow and sustained pressure. Lingering increases the duration and total damage of Spore Arrow, allowing its trap to remain dangerous for longer. Power Infusion complements this setup when using Featherlight Arrow, giving you a fast projectile with greater effective range.

The Hunter Utility setup trades some direct damage for additional battlefield control. Crippling Pain adds a Movement Speed reduction to Impact Grenade, while Shockwave gives Soundwave Arrow additional area detection after hitting terrain. This setup is useful when scouting and controlling enemy movement are more important than maximizing damage.

The Stealth Hunter setup focuses on scouting, repositioning, and maintaining Stealth during dangerous engagements. Steady Stealth prevents attacks from removing Shadow Step's Stealth, while Heightened Senses provides additional uses of Predator's Senses and reduces its base cooldown. This allows you to gather information, reposition safely, and choose when to re-engage.

Battle-fed is central to each setup. When carrying at least two Hunter's Arrows, landing shots reduces the remaining cooldown of your skills, rewarding accurate and consistent attacks. Lasting Pain further rewards sustained pressure by extending the duration of active debuffs on affected enemies. Dodge Rapid Shot complements these talents by letting you fire immediately after dodging, allowing you to maintain pressure while repositioning.

Normal Arrows remain important throughout every Hunter setup. They provide unlimited ammunition between Skill Arrow cooldowns and allow you to maintain pressure without relying entirely on your specialized arrows. Use them to continue attacking, build pressure, and take advantage of talents such as Pursuit Mark when equipped.

The Hunter is strongest when it can control the pace and positioning of an engagement. Establish traps where enemies are likely to move, apply debuffs before committing to an attack, and reposition whenever enemies begin closing the distance. The four setups shift the emphasis toward debuff control, damage over time, utility, or stealth, while the core Hunter playstyle remains focused on controlling enemies from range.

Solo Play Tips

Blackarrows are well suited for solo play because they can engage enemies from a safe distance while using arrows, mobility, and utility skills to control encounters. Take advantage of your range to scout ahead, identify threats, and weaken enemies before they can close the distance. Avoid committing to prolonged close-range fights, especially against enemies that can quickly pressure you.

Your choice of arrows should also reflect the situation. Archer setups can use knockback, piercing attacks, and area damage to control encounters, while Hunter setups can rely on debuffs, traps, and Stealth to dictate where and when fights happen.

Trio Play Tips

In trio play, Blackarrows can provide consistent ranged pressure while supporting teammates with crowd control, debuffs, and scouting. Stay behind the frontline when possible and focus on enemies that are already engaged with your teammates. Your ranged attacks allow you to punish exposed targets without putting yourself in unnecessary danger.

Coordinate your specialized arrows with your teammates. Knockback and debuffs can create openings for allies, while traps and area effects can restrict enemy movement. Hunter setups are particularly useful for maintaining pressure on enemies that are trying to disengage or reposition.

Best Class Synergies

Blackarrows benefit most from teammates who can keep enemies occupied while they maintain ranged pressure. Seers provide healing, shielding, and defensive support that allow Blackarrows to stay in position and continue attacking during prolonged fights. Mercenaries can engage enemies and draw attention with their durability and crowd control, creating safer opportunities for Blackarrows to charge and fire.

Sorcerers are another strong partner, adding ranged damage and area control that can capitalize on enemies already being pressured or restricted by the Blackarrow's arrows. Together, these classes give the Blackarrow room to focus on what it does best: controlling engagements from range.
