Mistfall Hunter Overview

Mistfall Hunter is an Action-RPG Extraction game. In these games, the gameplay loop is simple. Go out to an area, search around for loot or quests, kill the enemies that come to kill you, and get out of there to keep your stuff. The game does offer some unique caveats that make it stand out from other Extraction Games, but that does not mean it is any less difficult.

Classes to Pick

Classes to Pick

Mistfall Hunter offers a new, unique way of doing raids. The game features, as of writing, six playable classes with their own gameplay and equipment. Below is a quick overview of the classes and what they can do.

SorcererSpellcaster who uses both defensive and offensive magic
Black ArrowMarksman that wields a variety of trick arrows to trip up enemies

The Withered KnightEither offensive with a greatsword or defensive with a shield and spear, utilizes Wither to strike enemies

Best and Worst Class for Beginners

Generally speaking, the best class to select when starting is the Mercenary thanks to its balance of offense and defense. The gameplay of the Mercenary is also easy and straightforward, making it easy for people who are new to action games. It also has much better survivability than other classes like Sorcerer.

Seer, on the other hand, is not recommended for beginner or even solo play. While it is good for people with a team, as it is a support class, its lack of offensive options makes it less than ideal for a beginner who has no training with dodging or surviving.

Switching Classes

If you have gotten better at the game, you would want to switch classes to feel for another playstyle. However, do note that class switching costs gold for every switch. The first time you switch, it will cost 0 gold, but every subsequent switch will cost 200 gold.

If switching classes is not your style, then you can instead upgrade your camp to incorporate more characters in your account. Mistfall will not let you create a new character at first, but upgrading the camp's Gyldenblood Pool will increase the number of characters your account can have.

Searching, Surviving, and Extracting

Searching for Loot

Searching for Loot

Each map in Mistfall has a variety of items you will need for today or the future. Whether it is items for a quest or items needed to upgrade something back at the base, the maps will have everything you need. Just remember that you have a limited amount of items you can carry per run.

Surviving Each Zone

Surviving Each Zone

Enemies of different types will spawn on the map, including the dangerous boss monsters called Mistlords. They all vary in difficulty, so approaching them all with caution is key to survival.

But even more dangerous than the enemies of the game are other players. Other players, or Gyldhunters, can drop into the game now and then and attack you and/or your squad. They will likely be hostile and try to kill you.

Gyldhunters

You can use Elixirs to heal you during a fight, but they only heal over time. The Springhorn is where instant healing is at. Use those when in a jam instead of Elixirs.

Elixirs

It is important to take death seriously in this game, as when you die all the items you have looted will be lost.

The Gyldenmist

The Gyldenmist

Unlike other Extraction games, Mistfall actually puts you in a time limit on howl ong you can do a raid. This time limit comes in the form of the Gyldenmist. Looking at your map, there is a green area that surrounds it, and eventually that area starts closing in. That is the Gyldenmist, and it acts similarly to the Storm from Fortnite; when it closes in on you, you will get hurt. Before that happens, you will need to extract.

Extracting

Extracting

The main goal of an Extraction game is to get out of the area with all your loot on you, and Mistfall is no exception. Mistfall does, however, have a unique way of extracting out of its areas.

While each map has a unique way of extracting, the most common and important part of extracting is the Woodlings. The Woodlings always carry the way to extract out of the map, so look for them and defeat them to unlock your exit in whatever form that may be.

Your Camp

Your Camp

You need a safe space to prepare for any run in Mistfall. The Camp is where you do that. The camp offers a variety of shops and facilities that give different benefits to you for a run. These shops can also be upgraded to further improve their usefulness, which can be done once the introductory quests have been finished.

FacilityUse
Goddess StatueIncreases the healing of the Springhorn
Gyldenblod PoolIncreases Gyldjar capacity and character slots
WarehouseA place to store all items
Auction HouseAllows you to sell items to other players
TavernAllows you to brew drinks that give buffs during a run
WorkshopCan upgrade all equipment
Scavenger SquadCan go out to the field to bring back some materials
ShopPlace to buy consumables for your runs
Soulcatch TreeIncreases Soulcatch Net slots

Essential Tips

Always beware of other Gyldhunters

Always beware of other Gyldhunters

While you can trust your own squad, the same cannot be said to other players. Remember, players can join in on your raids and may try to kill you. Make a run for it unless you are confident in yourself.

Never bite off more than you can chew

The goal of an Extraction game is to get out alive. If you are in a dangerous spot, retreat and do not engage until you are ready.

Prioritize your goals per run

Prioritize your goals per run

Do not just go in a raid just to run around, make a plan. Do you finish a quest? Look for materials for the next upgrade? Prioritize those first before anything.

Use Springhorns in a pinch

Use Springhorns in a pinch

Unlike Elixirs, Springhorns heal health immediately. But only use them when absolutely necessary since they only last a few times per run.

Priority for Camp Upgrades

Priority for Camp Upgrades

When you unlock Camp Upgrades, it is important to make a priority list on what will be upgraded first.

The Warehouse should be on the top of the list so that you have a supply of materials needed to upgrade the other facilities.

Warehouse

Second is the Goddess Statues, as upgrading them will increase the amount of healing your Springhorn will do. Very essential for survival.

Goddess Statues

Your third is whatever you need in a given moment. Whether it is the Gyldenblod Pool for more Gyldenblod or the Workstation to make better equipment.
