Timeline Shift Decision: Noah Quest Summary

A tough decision must be made: will you save Noah by traveling to the past to change the present timeline, or will you leave his destiny in the hands of fate?

Timeline Shift Decision: Noah Walkthrough

As your journey progresses, you will encounter optional Timeline Shift quests. We recommend completing them to unlock partners, achievements, and other rewards.

[1] Travel to the Forma Storage Tower

Noah's pathos will be the first one you'll unlock. Lou can use her powers to trace its glow and take you back to MagMell Island of the Past.

[2] Use the Time Jump Portal

After interacting with the Bond, you’ll acquire the Blood Code: Guardian's Heart and Battle Axe: Idris’s Conceit!

Keep these terms in mind as you continue your journey:

Fast Traveling to BondsLike with Mistles, you can fast travel to Bonds which lead to other eras from the Map.
Time TravelTouch a Bond to follow it through time to the moment it is linked to. You can return to the present through a Bond of Returning.

[3] Go to Noah

Take the elevator down from the roof and make your preparations. You can rest at the nearby Mistle to equip your newly obtained Blood Code or the Special Axe, which easily breaks through shield defenses and applies the Slow status ailment to enemies.

When you're ready, head down the stairs and enter through the mist-covered entrance to reach Noah's location.

[4] Defeat the Dejected Assailant

Unlike the enemies you've faced so far, the Dejected Assailant will be a challenge. Before heading to the specifics, here are some tips for this Boss Fight:

・Frantz is an enemy that relies heavily on close-range combat, though he will launch projectile attacks from time to time. It's better to study his patterns first and wait for a clear opening to strike.

・Once you get the hang of the patterns, try to parry the attacks whenever you're able.

・Bring some Anti-Stone! This Boss can inflict the Stone ailment.

・Make sure you've gathered enough Golden Nectar for your Regeneration ability, since this fight consists of two phases.

For the first phase, the Dejected Assailant will use his Bayonet and claws for these moveset:

MoveDescriptionCombat Tips
Claw ComboWatch out for that massive claw! The Dejected Assailant can perform a two-swipe combo.Roll or back away to dodge. Can also be blocked or parried.
Dash AttackThe Boss will charge toward you and swipe his claws, followed by a powerful arm slam on the ground. When Frantz dashes at you while glowing red, prepare to parry or dodge the swipes. Note that the slam can only be blocked or dodged.
Bayonet Thrust/SlashThe Dejected Assailant will bring out his Bayonet to strike or slash you from time to time. These close-range attacks can be blocked or parried.
Golden BulletsFrantz will also use his Bayonet to fire three bullets at you. He often does this mid-air, but he can also perform the move while standing on the ground.Quickly run or roll to the side to dodge. Cannot be parried.

After depleting a fair amount of his HP, a cutscene triggers where Noah delivers the final blow—or so we thought. The second phase begins, where we face Franz the Dejected Assailant, who is now holding his decapitated head in one arm.

Be prepared for a more aggressive battle! These are the new attacks that you should keep an eye out for:

MoveDescriptionCombat Tips
Claw Swipes/UppercutIn addition to the close-range swipe combos from the first phase, the Boss can now scrape his claw along the ground to perform a damaging uppercut.Watch the pattern and anticipate your dodge.
Red CannonWhen he raises his arm and charges up, he will unleash a Red Cannon blast across the battlefield.Start running in the opposite direction to avoid this move.

Take advantage of the opening and close the gap to land some hits while he is still performing this attack.
Teleport AttackInstead of dashing toward you, the Dejected Assailant can now teleport and perform faster combos.Time your dodge carefully so you don't get caught in the continuous attacks.
Purple LaserThe Boss has several abilities that focus on using its Purple Laser:

・A quick, single laser shot
・A beam that sweeps from left to right
・A burst of purple waves with a wide range
These attacks are the trickiest. Since the Purple Laser can petrify you, keeping an Anti-Stone ready will come in handy!

The best attack window for Frantz is when his arm glows red and he dashes at you. Parry him with the Mutinous Bracer equipped. Slash him back at least twice and quickly move away from him.

Once you've defeated the enemy, you will get the Superbia Bloodline: Frantz Blood Code and A Friend's Wish trophy.

More importantly, you can now form the summoning pact for Noah! There will be a short tutorial on how to change partners:

How to Change PartnersWhen your partner is not determined by the story, you can choose any Revenant with whom you have formed a summoning pact at a Mistle.

Note that Lou is unavailable as a partner in the Past, as she must maintain the causality of the timeline.

[5] Return to the Present

When you're done exploring MagMell Island in the Past, return to the Present by going back to the Forma Storage Tower's rooftop.

Lady Lavinia will confront you about the alterations you caused to the timeline but respects your decision, which will complete this quest.

History has been rewritten! Now that Noah is saved, head back to MagMell to continue "Vanquishing the Heroes".
